The Florida Bar (the organization that regulates Florida lawyers) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service are very concerned with the unlicensed practice of law (UPL) and unauthorized practice of immigration law (UPIL). Any individual or company that is giving legal advice or opinions on U.S. immigration laws and procedures may be committing UPL or UPIL, and may be subject to fines and penalties. An E-2 and E-1 Brazilian Coalition has been formed to lobby U.S. Congress to approve the E-2/E-1 Visa Category for citizens of Brazil. The goal is to streamline the U.S. Immigration procedure for Brazilian investors and entrepreneurs to obtain a visa to direct U.S. business operations for initial periods of 5 years. The E-2/E-1 Brazilian Coalition is chaired by U.S. Immigration Attorney Edward Beshara. Mr. Beshara is the Chair of the Immigration Committee of the Central Florida Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce (CFBACC), which will take a leadership role for the Coalition, and includes Laiz Rodrigues, President of CFBACC, and key members Andrea Almeida, Amy Litter, Eraldo Manes, and Miguel Kaled.
