Everything Old is New Again
Watching Michelle Dodek in the Kitchen preparing for the virtual community cooking class fundraiser was very special. When it became clear that the plans for an in-person Innovators Lunch needed to be cancelled, the question became “What now?”
Michelle led the way and ensured that no matter the challenges, we would create an event that would help provide necessary funding so our clients would continue to receive needed services, whether food, counselling, or emergency support.

Innovation comes in many forms. Michelle’s intention for the virtual cooking class was to change the way we think about food. She took her Baba’s recipe for knishes made the traditional way with stretched dough, and transformed it into a healthy, filling, vegan snack. While sharing her family story she also touched on key issues of food security, sustainability, and affordability.
Michelle was there for JFS and the community when we needed her the most. For us, she moved mountains. Thank you Michelle!
