A Place of Connection
One of the strengths of JFS services is the fact that they are designed in partnership with program recipients. Our staff play a significant role in each client’s life and their individual journeys. As such, we are committed to honouring their needs and lived experience in order to create a more inclusive environment.
Over one-third of JFS clients are seniors. As the Seniors Community Outreach Coordinator, Tamar Stein oversees and supports a Senior Leadership Team that has been the creative force behind the program. “Thriving Seniors programs are available at no cost to our older clients. Through a grant from Vancouver Coastal Health, we focus on creating opportunities for seniors to connect and engage with each other in ways that support mental health and overall well-being.”

Different programs, from cultural to educational events, are offered both in-person and online to address the issue of service accessibility for our seniors. This approach creates a sense of inclusion and an acknowledgment of seniors’ differing realities. Thriving Seniors offers something to every senior.
