Since our newsletter is bi-monthly two members are chosen each month. Of the many wonderful faculty members at JCHS, we have chosen Mr. Downs (aka Prophet Downs) this month is our featured teacher this month! You can find him in room 403. He has been teaching at John Carroll for 3 years now, starting with Spanish 1 and 2, and now Junior religion. Outside of JCHS Mr. Downs is a proud father and husband and cheers very passionately for the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics. Mr. Downs is beloved by his students who view him as an authentic and “chill,” teacher who is not afraid to challenge his students on topics of faith and morality. freshman’s first week of high School

Do you remember your first day of high school? I remember being super nervous before school, but once I walked inside, my nerves were all gone! I talked to a few of our freshmen about how they felt on their first day, and they gave some feedback.

“I was a little nervous but mostly excited, John Carroll is my dream high school and I am so excited for this year!”-Angie Matos

“Before I got to school I was nervous, and when I arrived I was even more nervous. As the day went on I felt better and it was a good day!”-Lizbeth Lopez

“On my way to school I was super excited and couldn’t wait to get to school! Once I got here I was so shocked how big it was, I was expecting it to be way smaller. There were a lot more kids then I was anticipating. I was kind of overwhelmed but it was a great day!”

student leaders in ministry - Shaina Lee

At John Carroll, we believe we are a community united in Jesus Christ's love. While attending, we are allowed to build a better relationship with God. The Alpha Ministry is a group of seniors who share their faith with their peers, faculty, family, and friends around the John Carroll community. They plan the yearly retreats and liturgies at school. We are honored to have a leadership group that deepens our relationship with Jesus. We hope that others may see the examples seniors portray this year and encourage others to join their upcoming senior year.
