Letter to a Church Newspaper in Canada about the Head of the

United Nations,

Antonio Guterres

July 4, 2023

Dear Editor:

To quote from the Summer 2023 issue of Connections, page 31, "Time for a Just Transition" by Katherine Sisk. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: "We have never been better equipped to solve the climate challenge, but we must move into warp-speed climate action now. We don't have a moment to lose."

This statement by Antonio Guterres is to frighten people. There is no scientific basis. Antonio deliberately ignores anything that does not support his argument. The attached letter by Guss Berkhout of Clintel is another attempt to contact Antonio with relevant information.

Here is something about Clintel:

"The main objective of the Climate Intelligence Foundation (Clintel) is to generate knowledge and understanding of the causes and effects of climate change, as well as of the effects of climate policy. Clintel published the World Climate Declaration, which has now been signed by more than 1500 scientists and experts worldwide, thus rivaling in size and credentials the IPCC's Working Group authorship lists. See www.clintel.org.”

The science says there is no climate emergency. The warming effect of carbon dioxide is too small to measure. And this has been known since 1904. It is not new. For further information, see: Laws of Physics define the insignificant warming of Earth by CO2. Available at: https://setpublisher.com/pms/index.php/jbas/issue/view/89.

The Sun controls the Earth's temperature and began a solar minimum

in mid-2020. As measured by satellite, January temperatures show a temperature drop since then of 0.4oC. As the temperature is not increasing, as claimed by Antonio Guterres, he and the IPCC ignore the satellite temperatures because they prove them wrong. You may have noticed the worldwide crop failures caused by "early frosts." Vermont lost nearly all of its fruit crop this year to early frosts.

Just for reference, electricity is essential to our modern life. But it cannot make anything. Fossil fuels are required to make everything.

For the Presbyterian Church in Canada to accept Antonio Guterres's words without question is a dereliction of its duty to its members. It has failed them. The leaders in the PCC need to apologize to the membership and learn to examine both sides of every issue before making decisions. Promotion of Guterres' position will seriously hurt all Christians and their families. Peace,

Here is the reply:

“Hi Douglas, thank you for your message and feedback on the article from the Presbyterian Connection newspaper. I appreciate you taking the time to write in with your comments. I’ve passed your email and attachment along to the author of the article and the Justice Ministries department.

Please note that the staff of the national office follow the decisions and statements made by the General Assembly on matters of climate

justice. The General Assembly has consistently made decisions and statements on the matter of climate change that are in line with the best science, and that reflect the lived experience of our global partners who contend daily with the disastrous and deadly effects of climate change.

Again, I appreciate your feedback and input. “

As you can see from the reply that my message fell on deaf ears. Antonio Guterres’s comments are not on the basis of good science.

I will keep trying. This is to let you know the difficulty in trying to stop the disastrous propaganda. As mark Twain said: “It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.”
