Ukraine - This heartbreaking photo essay hits at so many levels Ed Olinek May 20, 2022 To see how beautiful the nature of humanity can be, destroyed by the ugly nature of ideology touches many hearts at several levels. We've got to put an end to this mad man (Putin) and others like him!!! I've never been to that part of the world and know little about the culture of Ukraine except from testimonials by landed immigrants that I've worked with and stories passed on to me by my grandparents and their siblings, via my parents, uncles and aunts. It's because I have Ukrainian blood in me that these photos provoke heartbreak, it's the outrage I have when I view these and know of heartless actions by so many people in our present day culture who are willing to destroy such tributes to public achievements to meet privatized and self-interest objectives! These photos reinforce how mankind CAN achieve beautiful results when we strip off hate-mongering labels and allow ourselves to collectively create wondrous achievements! Let us hope current despots of today will be snuffed out (and also that we will weed out would-be despots) that dominate our political system today!!! If we continue to suppress the public cooperative spirit that led to the greatness of this country, and instead succumb to private (and oligarchical) interests, we WILL endure a fate similar to Ukraine!!! In many ways, people of Ukraine are fighting our fight and dying for us! I hope these photos can be a wake up call!
