Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, BuzzFeed and more have been adapted by the self-proclaimed Caliphate of the ‘New Islamic State’. But now, hitting back at the highly organised group of Jihads, are not just Right-Wing groups and ‘Anonymous’, but now also everyday ‘Joe Soaps’. Jihads have long struggled to gain support and have their actions identified in the western world.

New Law On Sunbeds In From Today New legislation governing the use of sunbeds is being brought in today. ‘’Happy hours’’ and unlimited usage will now be a thing of the past as the new regulations aim to reduce health National Employment week problems such as skin cancer.

Joe Murphy Sunbed users will be required to wear protective eyewear and will not be able to use sunbeds without supervision. The new regulations also mean that owners will now have to display warning signs, provide information on the risks, and ban health claims.

Any premises not displaying the warning signs or not complying with new legislation could be fined up to €4000 and/or face 6 months imprisonment for their first offence. If the offence is recommitted the fine will rise to €5000 and/ or 12 months imprisonment.

Health Minister Leo Varadkar has stated, “The more that someone uses a sunbed, the higher the risk they will get skin cancer.”

He added, “The incidence of skin cancer is increasing faster than any other type.

So this phase of sunbed measures is all about making sure that adults know the risks.” The Irish cancer society has welcomed these changes by claiming that they hope this will help prevent the illness.

Donal Buggy, head of the Irish Cancer Society, has welcomed the new regulations and has stated “It’s important for everybody to realise the steps that they can take to avoid skin cancer.” Mr Buggy continued “We believe that this is really going to make a difference.”

The director of the National Cancer Control Programme, Dr Susan O Reilly, has also commented on the skin cancer issue by saying “Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer in Ireland and the numbers of new cases are increasing every year.

People with moles should check them regularly and see their GP if they notice any changes such as increasing size, changing colour or irregular edges.”

Skin cancer is the fastest growing cancer in Ireland.

There are now 800 new malignant melanomas diagnosed in Ireland with around 150 of these cases causing death. It is reported that in Ireland 1 in 8 men, and 1 in 10 women will develop skin cancer with the number rising every year.

Run For CF 2015

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) held their One to 1,000 Campaign in the Herbert Park hotel today to promote fundraising for CF in the Women’s Mini-Marathon later this year. The aim is for more and more women to take part in the Mini-Marathon in support of Cystic Fibrosis in hopes to raise much needed money for CFI. Carla McEllone Since the campaign launched in 2010 it has raised over €70,000 for CFI. The money raised has been used to improve services for children and adults who suffered from the disorder, including fitting a state-of-the-art four-bed ward in Our Lady’s Children’s hospital, Crumlin. They are expecting that 2015 will be the biggest year for CF, hoping to raise more funds than ever.

“The Flora Mini-Marathon is the largest event that caters for every fitness levels and for females only, so whether you are a carefree walker or an experienced runner we would love to have you join the One in 1,000 CFI Team for 2015”.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetically inherited decease which mainly affects the lungs and digestive system. With Ireland having approximately 1 in 19 people suffering from the decease, , it has the highest count of CF patients. Every year more than 50 people are diagnosed in Ireland with the incurable decease.

Pro-Water Charges

In recent months we have seen the installation of water meters outside our homes and businesses following the Irish government’s introduction of the Water Charges Bill. The controversial new charges have caused a divide in opinion, between those who support the charges and those who oppose the charges.

By Kim O’Leary A number of Pro-water politicians have voiced their opinion on the Water Charges following the recent anti-water protest demonstrations.

It follows the increase in the number of anti-water demonstrations in the last few weeks. Although a large number of people are in favour of the abolition of the government’s Water Charges, there are those who support the charges. I spoke with a number of people who wished to share their views on the issue. “Personally, I think that the water charges could be a positive for Ireland”, says Mary from Ballyfermot. “Yes, it is another tax, but it means that our water will be of a higher standard and safer,” she adds. Michael, another local, says that the introduction of the water meters will help to boost employment. “It will help to create more jobs for local people who are unemployed, which is only a good thing in my opinion.”

Anti-Water charges

In the last few months we have seen the introduction of the Water Charges Bill, which has given rise to a heated debate: pro-water or anti-water?

Many people find themselves divided between the two sides as the country is gripped by water fever.

By Kim O’Leary A number of Irish politicians have chosen sides in the debate, with some opting to support the charges backed by the Irish government while others such as the Anti-Austerity Alliance party have decided to oppose the charges. In the last few weeks alone there has been an increase in the number of anti-water protesters lining the streets of Dublin City, as they fight to have their voices heard. to have their voices heard.

A recent poll carried out by The Irish Times/IPSOS MRBI has shown that less than half of households have registered and intend to pay the water charges. According to the poll, 48% of all households intend to pay, with 33% saying that they will not pay, and 8% believe that they are not applicable. I spoke with a number of people who say that they will not pay the water charges. “I am out protesting because I’m against the water meters,” says May Radford, who lives in Dublin and was at the latest march in Dublin last Friday. “People are very upset about these charges, and we genuinely can’t afford to pay them,” she adds.

Meanwhile, contractors for Irish Water have spoken of their “fear and dread” when they go to work installing the water meters. “People say that the protests are peaceful, but they are far from it,” says James, a contractor for Irish Water. “The protesters are laughing at the gardai. I’ve seen gardai being assaulted and yet no-one is arrested

I have been followed to and from work myself, and I’m terrified, to be honest,” he adds. Another contractor, Mark, has told how his van has been damaged and how he dreads work.

“It’s so bad that we feel apprehensive about coming to work, and we’ve asked Irish Water to install cameras in vans for our safety.”

Anti-Austerity Alliance councillor Mick Murphy, who was recently arrested following an incident involving Tanaiste Joan Burton, says that the situation has become” desperate for people who have nothing.” He feels that Irish People are paying enough taxes. “It’s unfair to ask the Irish people to pay more tax on water.

People don’t have the money, and the government know it, too,” he says.

Minister fitzgerald launches children and family relationships bill: Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald TD, launched the second stage of the new, ground-breaking, Children and Family Relationships Bill, at a press conference, yesterday, at the Bedford Hall, Dublin Castle.

By Aidan Crowley: In her opening address to the conference, Fitzgerald stressed that the current system has failed the nation’s children because it was never designed with the needs of children to the fore.

Current legislation is fragmented, as no state body has brought the various strands together. Also, no minister has set any coherent policy, no Department has taken responsibility or accountability, solely for children’s affairs, the Minister continued.

“Child and family support is not an area in which ad-hoc, inconsistent solutions can work. This area, more than any other, relies on the worried teacher being able to talk to the concerned guard. It relies on the file of the social worker intervention being complete and available to their colleagues. It relies on the managers being able to spot patterns and areas of concern in communities, in counties, in regions and take fast action to address them”, said Fitzgerald.

The Minister went on to explain what support structures would be put in place, when the new Bill is eventually passed. Troubled young people, whose individual needs, vulnerability and behaviour requires them to be protected throughout the day, without posing a risk to themselves or others, will be specifically catered for under the new legislation.

Minister Fitzgerald went on to outline the fact that when young people arrive at this point, it usually means that the system has failed both them and their families. Many of these young people are victims of acute trauma in their personal lives, often blighted by lives so bleak and horrible that the remarkable thing is not that they ended up in trouble, but that they survived at all.

A lot of case files will highlight family situations where both parents suffer from drug addictions. They can often involve physical and sexual abuse, neglect, emotional torture, violence from parents and between parents.

“These case files show childhoods that are solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short and they show what happens when the system fails. It has failed a lot”, explained the Minister.

Visiting restrictions at Tallaght Hospital, Dublin, due to flu outbreak will be reviewed today.

This is not the first Hospital to enforce these restrictions this year, St. James’ Hospital Mercy University Hospital Cork (MUH) and Cork University Hospital have all had to enforce these restrictions to insure the safety of its patients.

In a statement MUH said, “The situation will be continuously reviewed and the hospital is seeking the public’s cooperation with the restrictions.

The hospital will deal with exceptional cases on an individual basis”.

The emergency departments remain open and access to children’s wards and critical care areas is still being allowed.

All hospitals have advised that anyone with any flu-like symptoms should contact their GP first instead of going to an emergency department.

Seminar on the Children and Family Relationship Bill Geoffrey Shannon of Children’s Rights Alliance said, at the seminar to launch a briefing on her Children and Family Relationship Bill, that “The text books on family law will have to be rewritten…” as a result of the Minister’s new legislation which passed its second stage in the Dáil yesterday.

The Ministers new Bill will provide a monumental opportunity to enhance the rights of children and families in Ireland as current Irish law is at present unable to address the needs of a developing society and the right of same sex couple to be able to adopt children and of course the bill will also address the right of the child to know who their biological parent or parents are if they are the result of donor eggs. The Bill will prohibit anonymous donor donations and establish a national donor-conceived person register.

The Bill will also address the need to establish a comprehensive court welfare service to support the roll-out of this legislation. It is anticipated that the new Bill which address the

and will substantially reduce the

number of family law case ending up in court, but at the same time there will be a need to provide free legal aid for the less well-off of our society to support the new Bill. It has of yet not been decided how this will work but a solution to this problem is anticipated in the near future.

MISSING/CAVAN: Gardaí in Cavan have issued an appeal to help find 22-year-old Donal Greene from Ballyconnell.

Cavan Gardaí have launched an appeal to help trace the whereabouts of 22-year-old who was last seen around 5am on Saturday 28th in Derryhassan, Ballyconnell.

Stephen McGovern Donal is described as being 6’ 3” in height, of slim build.

When last seen Donal was wearing a white shirt and black trousers.

There has been a significant increase in the amount of missing persons case published on the social media websites and online news pages in recent months which has increased awareness and could possibly provide information that could help investigations.

When speaking to the Ballyconnell Garda Station they claimed that there have been a number of calls so far due to the amount of people post-

ing the pictures online. They have also urged that people provide clear and factual information when calling to get the best possible outcome from every lead.

In the first two months of 2015 there has been 27 missing people reported by the Garda Press Office 17 of which were found safe and well. Unfortunately six were located deceased and there are a further four still untraced. The painting is being exhibited for 10 minute intervals every Monday and Wednesday in the National Gallery between the hours of 11:30 and 12:30. It is available for viewings by members of the public. Tickets are available from the information desk and admission is free.

More the ten thousand people protested to honour murdered Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.

Thousands of Russians gathered Sunday, March 1 at the beginning of the afternoon in downtown Moscow to participate in a march in honour of Boris Nemtsov. The opponent and former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia murdered on Friday, near the Kremlin. “He died for the future of Russia” and “ He fought for a free Russia,” could be read on the signs held by the demonstrators.

Frampton holds on to world title

Carl Frampton kept hold of his IBF super bantamweight title in Belfast on Saturday night after a convincing win over American challenger Chris Avalos.

Josh Reid The Belfast native, known as the Jackal, defeated Avalos after only five of the 12 scheduled rounds, much to the delight of a packed Odyssey Arena and his manager, former boxing champion Barry McGuigan.

Even before the match, Avalos was seen as a fighter who should not be underestimated and should be a worthy fighter. Former boxing champion David Haye told ITV Sport that he considered Avalos to be a “World class boxer.”

As soon as the fight began, Frampton gave the first signs that he had no intention of relinquishing his title to Avalos as the provided the first blows of the night. Avalos soon found himself on the receiving end of a telling off from referee Howard Foster over pulling punches whilst on a break.

A minute and a half into the second round, Avalos seemed to have been hit with an injury to his right arm, but it did not stop Frampton from pulling heavier punches. With Avalos struggling, it seemed as though Frampton had the title secured.

Only a minute into the fifth round of the fight, Frampton provided a heavy punch that sent Avalos to the floor, with the fight nearly heading to a K.O. Referee Foster stopped the fight a minute and a half in to the fifth round after Avalos started to seem disorientated.

After the fight, Frampton said that his title defence was easier than it seemed, “[It] felt amazing and, to be honest, it was pretty easy.” He also spoke to ITV Sport about how the atmosphere spurred him on, “The Odyssey (Arena) is like my home. I knock people out when I come here.

That’s it. Simple as.” Barry McGuigan was filled with nothing but praise for Frampton, “He is the best super bantamweight in the world. This guy is the best fighter in the world and

we aim to prove that”, he said to ITV Sport.

His next prospective opponent, Scott Quigg thought it was a “good performance” by the Jackal. A date and venue is yet to be announced for the prospective fight between Frampton and Quigg, but McGuigan said that he was open to a compromise on a neutral venue for Frampton’s second title defence

The fate of this year’s RBS Six Nations title seems to be secured as Ireland cruised to a comprehensive 19-9 victory over England at the Aviva Stadium yesterday.

Joe Schmidt’s men went into this game on the back of nine successive victories, including winning the championship title last season and were out to secure a win over Stuart Lancaster’s men for the first time in five seasons. The stats seemed to be in England’s favour, with them having won 74 of the 128 games played between them over the last number of years.

Next for Ireland is a trip to Cardiff to take on Wales on March 14th, before finishing their Six Nations programme for the season against Scotland in Murrayfield a week later.

Kerry 0-15 to Dublin 1-10 a keen rivalry

Kerry won their second match of the Allianz League 2015 in the Kingdom’s home ground.

Anthony Power The Kingdom’s second league win in a row, Kerry’s team had the better second half-period in which Eamonn Fitzmaurice’s side cut down on individual errors from previous games in the league.

Fitzmaurice added “Both teams were going hard. There’s a keen rivalry between both sides. We hadn’t beaten Dublin in a game league or championship since 2012 and we wanted to try and correct.”

Dublin was leading at half-time with the score being 0-06-0-07 in the league game in Kerry. There was a very good turn- up of 2,000 in attendance on the Sunday game.

The Kerry manager also had news about James Donoghue and Colm Cooper, their return back to league and championship games.

“James and Colm have symptom-led injuries that once the symptom settles and they are ready to go we’ll throw them back into action”

Both teams ended up finishing with 14 players on the pitch with two players being sent off. They will be both suspended for the next two games in the national league.

For Donaghy, who in fact made his Kerry senior debut in this correspononding fixture a decade ago, in what was also the last time Dublin beat Kerry in a league match.

This is always a key fixture in Gaelic Games with the keen rivalry between

In recent years Arsenal and Manchester City haven’t had the most exemplary of records in Europe’s most coveted club competition Kyle Collins

They are not littered with greats of the modern game in fact there star player Aymen Abdennour was only linked with Arsenal and there London rivals Tottenham Hotspur just weeks before during the transfer

The first 35 minutes was the best display of possession based football but also with enough forward passes to have cutting edge that we’ve seen in this year’s competition but Manchester City allowed this to happen by persisting with their 2 up top method. They were outnumbered in midfield and even with a sole bit of magic from Aguero their chances might now have gone in this year’s tournament.

For these reasons alone the gunners 3-1 defeat to them at home is considered totally unacceptable by their fans. Arsenal are renowned to play are beautiful style of football but this simply doesn’t cut it in top European competition. They are far too easy to play against and Wenger’s ability to not address the problem areas in recent transfer windows has to be looked at. There are also questions to be answered about Wenger’s motivation and if he can get the best out of his current crop of players Manchester City also have problems to address in Europe. Manuel Pellegrini’s reluctance to play with an extra midfield player is costing him in Europe against the bigger sides

Overall this year’s Champions League is proven that the English league maybe the best league for entertainment but is struggling when its top teams are competing with the best in Europe.

Mourhino boasts Premier League titles, La Liga titles, and numerous European cups but insists he still has the hunger to compete over the years and win more.
