s we navigate the ever-changing landscape in the aftermath of the pandemic, Coast Mall in Stanmore Bay is reimagining its role as a local community hub, striving to be a place where we live, work, play, and dine.

We’re passionate about ushering in a new era of community engagement and revitalization, and we’re excited to share our vision for the future.

We’re witnessing a resurgence of enthusiasm for in-centre shopping and dining. Our Asset Manager, Josh Connolly, reports increased foot traffic, and our retailers and dining establishments are feeling the positive impact on their sales.

Momentum is building on the leasing front, but we are always keen to hear from locals looking to start or expand their businesses.

Food, retail and convenience is the core of our strategy. We’re continuously exploring creative ways to connect with our valued local community. From innovative window displays to captivating installations, we’re committed to offering unique experiences that resonate with our visitors. NEW ADDITIONS!

City Fitness Sir Ji’s – Indian Fusion Savannah and Vishal, a local couple, recently opened a new Indian restaurant called Sir Ji’s at the Whangaparaoa Coast Mall.

They’ve worked hard to create a unique concept, combining fast-food convenience with traditional Indian flavours. Their menu includes a variety of dishes from curries to burgers and wraps, as well as salads and a kid’s menu. The restaurant offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery options.

The team behind Sir Ji’s includes Savannah, Vishal, Jacob (Savannah’s cousin), and Chef Gagan, who are all dedicated to providing great food and service. Savannah and Vishal, who previously owned a successful business in another industry, have taken this bold step while balancing parenthood. They aim to create a thriving business that contributes positively to the community.

Savannah is known for her excellent customer service, always going the extra mile to ensure satisfaction. Vishal brings his culinary expertise and leadership to maintain food quality. Chef Gagan adds new flavours and options to the menu, focusing on customer satisfaction.

Though Sir Ji’s is still in its early stages, it has already received positive reviews from customers. They offer delivery through platforms like Uber Eats, Ordermeal, Menulog, Deliver Easy, and DoorDash.

The future looks promising for this new restaurant under the guidance of Savannah and Vishal and with the support of their dedicated team.

The Beer Spot When The Beer Spot – Whangaparaoa celebrated a record opening weekend at Coast Mall in July, it was an important milestone in an exciting journey for local owner-operators Ben and Tracey Kelsey and Craig and Claire Holt.

Ben and Tracey discovered The Beer Spot when it first opened in Northcote. They were living on the Shore and both working locally as school principals.

“We loved the community nature of the place. It felt like home and the staff were all your mates. And it was such a great concept, putting money back in the pockets of local New Zealand businesses,” Ben says.

Their friend Craig, another North Shore school principal, was also a big fan.

So, when the opportunity to run The Beer Spot – Whangaparaoa under a franchise model came up, they leapt at the chance.

“We’d worked together before in schools, so we knew we could make it work,” says Ben. The spacious, modern bar in the Coast Mall is also the launch of The Wine Spot brand, doubling the options for local punters.

There are 40 beers available on tap, all made by independent New Zealand brewers, and 40 New Zealand wines. Food is provided by a

different food truck each week rotating in on a Monday.

Whangaparaoa was the first place The Beer Spot looked to open after launching in Northcote however it took a while to find premises. But the space in Coast Mall is perfect, with enough room to offer an impressive range of beers and wines.

“Choice is everything” Those choices change frequently – once a keg or case is finished, it will be replaced with something else. But it will always be locally made – supporting New Zealand businesses has become increasingly important to Kiwis in a post-Covid world.

The food truck model means the food on offer is also always changing. There are not many places where you get a new menu every week.

For the Kelseys and the Holts, the dream is to make their family-friendly, dog-friendly bar an integral part of the local community.

“We want The Beer Spot to be a place where locals can hang out with their mates, have a chat, a few drinks and cruise home safely. People have told us it’s exactly what the Coast needs.”
