Camp St. Vincent Readies for 118th Season of Serving Children
Camp St. Vincent, the sole free summer camp dedicated to serving children experiencing homelessness in the Baltimore region, offers an extraordinary and life-changing camp experience. It addresses the adverse effects of homelessness on children’s unique academic, social, and emotional needs, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment to grow and thrive.
Camp begins June 17th and we still need sponsors for the over 200 children who hope to attend.
Your sponsorship can significantly impact a child’s life this summer. For just $70, you can sponsor a child for a day, providing them a day of joy and learning. A $350 sponsorship covers a child’s entire week at camp, offering them a much-needed respite from their challenging circumstances.
You can also help us provide camp essentials, like backpacks, bathing suits, snacks and games, to everyone attending camp by purchasing from our Amazon wish list.

18TH ANNUAL EMPTY BOWLS:
Two Great Events for One Great Cause!
On Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, the Maryland State Fairground hosted nearly 1,000 guests for our 18th annual Empty Bowls. This year was special as, in addition to holding the traditional Family Event on Saturday, we introduced a new Friday evening event called Candlelight and Clay. Between the two events, over $186,000 was raised for the programs and services of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore!
Thank you to those who supported this year’s Empty Bowls – we look forward to seeing you again at next year’s events, scheduled for April 11 and 12, 2025!

THANK YOU, SHAMROCKERS!
Thank you to all of our runners and volunteers for this year’s Under Armour Kelley Benefits Shamrock 5K on March 10, 2024. While the day was windy, we had a lot of fun while raising awareness and support for our fight against poverty in Baltimore. As the charity recipient, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore received over $13,000 in donations. Thank you again to the over 5,000 runners who showed up and spread the Irish cheer!
Beans & Bread serves an average of 250 hot meals a day to those experiencing hunger and homelessness. These meals are lovingly prepared by volunteers and staff, who are captained by Sasha Holmes, Meal and Day Service Coordinator at Beans & Bread. Sasha is responsible for creating the daily menus and preparing the meals. It is the ideal role for someone with her special talents and skills.
Sasha, who joined Beans & Bread in the summer of 2021, brings a unique blend of experiences to her role. Having served as a facilities manager with Baltimore City Public Schools for six years and a culinary school graduate, she saw the dual role of Meal and Day Service Coordinator as a perfect fit. “When I saw the position, I thought that it seemed like me all the way around because I’m a facilities manager, and I am a chef. I just thought it would be the greatest opportunity to do both,” she shared. Her passion for cooking and dedication to her community are the driving forces behind her work. “I just love cooking, and I love to feed the community,” she added.
Sasha’s connection to the community is deep-rooted. Growing up in Baltimore and now residing in the Highlandtown area, she often encounters clients in her neighborhood. “I’m from the community, so I always see people I know from here. I try to always say hi and stop and talk when I can,” she said. The appreciation she
