On March 15th, the Board of Education voted to place a new parcel tax on the ballot that would immediately replace Alameda’s current parcel taxes, Measures A and H. The date of the special mail-in election will be June 22, with ballots mailed to all Alameda voters in late May. The replacement parcel tax will help maintain Alameda’s quality schools by attracting and retaining excellent teachers, preserving core academic programs, and helping to maintain small class size. If passed, the parcel tax will minimize cuts to educational programs and help AUSD bridge the budget gap created by drastic cuts in state funding. http://alamedaschools.org
