Local Choir to perform a special Christmas Concert in two local churches This year, the Wombourne and District Choral Society is to perform two special Christmas Concerts, the first to be in St Benedicts Biscop Church, Wombourne on Saturday 9th December at 7.30pm. The second Christmas Concert with the exact same programme will be a week later in Beckminster Methodist Church in Birches Barn Road, Wolverhampton on Saturday 16th December, again starting at 7.30pm. The Choir will be singing both traditional and also new carols for the congregation to take part in and enjoy, together with some well-known Christmas pieces and some less well-known, associated with the choir from King’s College, Cambridge. A feature piece of the concert will be the Ralph Vaughan Williams ’Fantasia on Christmas Carols’ with a soloist. The conductor will be the Choir’s Musical Director, Edward Caine, with accompaniment by Johnathan Clarke on the organ. Tickets are £15 each with children under 16 free and can be bought from choir members, calling 01902 590974, online at the choir’s website www.wombournechoralsociety.org. uk, or by buying at the door on the night. Wombourne & District Choral Society is a well-established, mixed choir of some 50 singers, drawn from the local area and have a varied repertoire, mainly full classical works, often performed with soloists and an orchestra.
