The importance of the Architect Act and Rules extends beyond safeguarding the public's interests but fostering trust and accountability of Malaysia design industry. Amidst the rising cases of unregistered interior design companies engaging in illegal practices, such as portfolio misuse and deposit scams, underscore the associated risk to clients and the importance of regulation. The distinction between registered and non-registered interior designers in Malaysia is pivotal, ensuring professionalism, competence, and adherence to ethical standards. What proactive measures can the industry and regulatory bodies take to further enhance consumer protection and maintain the integrity of interior design services in Malaysia? Also, how would the rise of AI contribute to this matter. Discuss.

SUMMARY/REFLECTION

Through the discussions and research, it has expanded my point of view, in terms of who should be responsible for taking the extensive proactive actions to ensure the integrity and accountability of the industry. It is imperative for both designer and client, but as well as the legislative bodies, and a public audience.

The legislative bodies are the MIID, PAM, LAM and CIDB, and they have taken steps such as enforcement in regulation that penalize services that are unregistered. Efforts are made for the ease of registration such as the streamline registration for IDR. I also agree with the lack of public awareness of the grey area of illegal practices, and this can be improved through education. Besides, they can use official websites for registered numbers of the service providers.

In terms of the use of AI, besides the point of view of using AI as data analysis and avoiding misinformation, discussions are also made when AI is used for designing, which is a double edged sword towards the industry in conclusion. It can assess work qualities, assist in workflow but at the same time will have issues such as integrity and originality in works. (195 words)

A Completion and Compliance Certificate (CCC) is an essential legal document issued by the local authorities in Malaysia. It signifies that a building project has been completed according to approved plans and complies with Malaysian building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

In Malaysia, it is mandatory to obtain a CCC before a property can be legally occupied. CCC confirms that a building is safe for occupation, emphasizing public safety. It also highlights the complexities and diligence involved in the application process, underlining the importance of transparency, adherence to regulations, and cooperation between developers and local authorities to ensure that structures meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
