“IVDU ET ADONAI B’SIMCHAH”
“Serve Adonai in Gladness” -Psalms
When I think of Alan Rosen, I am reminded of the verse from psalms which calls upon us to serve Adonai with gladness, to serve God with a joyful heart. For as long as I have known Alan (and Cathy too), I have admired Alan for his selfless, ego-less, desire to serve the Jewish people, which he does with a purity of heart and a joyful spirit. In fact, Alan and Cathy intentionally moved from their home in Palm Beach County to Parkland for the express desire to be closer to CKT. They wanted their lives to be intertwined with the Jewish community we have built here at our synagogue. They wanted to be closer not just geographically to CKT, but to serve God and the Jewish people as faithful members of our K’hillah K’dushah.
Alan has continually done so, utilizing his talents for organization, leadership and vision, along with his contagious passion for all things Jewish. Alan has contributed to the wellbeing of our congregation serving as President of Brotherhood, Fundraising Chair, Treasurer, First Vice President and now President of CKT. His deft handling of numerous challenges and opportunities has served our congregation well and we are all the more stable financially and programmatically as a result.
On a personal level, Linda and I are blessed to call Alan and Cathy dear friends and neighbors at Four Seasons. We have celebrated numerous happy occasions together including officiating at Jonathan and Alana’s wedding, baby namings for Charlie and Sophia, and a most memorable CKT trip to Israel in 2023. One of my most favorite memories is standing with Cathy and Alan waving the Israeli flag at a protest rally for Democracy in Israel.
And despite the fact that we are cross state rivals, both hailing from Pennsylvania, he from Pittsburgh and me from Philadelphia, and while he roots for all the wrong teams like the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, I still like him.
Seriously though, I am mindful that he will be my last synagogue and CKT President of my 40-year career. I could not be more blessed to have Alan as the President who will see me retire in 2026.
And so my dear friend and dedicated partner in the sacred work we do together, on behalf of our people, I wish you continued strength and all of the Holy One’s most abundant blessings for long life and good health for many long years.
With love and affection
