Organization Parti Action Gradient

I have been interested in forms that feature interior courtyards, the interest was driven by providing protection from the blustery winds that can form in the summer season. What I found is that including a central void provides a natural division for programing which lead to my organizing principle of Observe | Blend | Practice. I imagined a gradient of activities that relate to one another, one end of the gradient involves learning, observation, and exploration. While the opposite end of the gradient is about the application of what has been learned. The center of the gradient provides space for rest, absorbtion, or processing what has been experienced on either end of the spectrum.

Because the fingers are a set of three, the courtyard inspired parti naturally lent itself to becoming a site wide organizing principle.

System Parti Looped

This graphic grew from my own sketches of the different systems I wanted to include on the site and trying to understand how they overlay and relate to one another. At this phase of design I had two coil fields for geothermal sourcing. Locating the heat pumps between the fingers allow them to be educative features along a perimeter walking path, while each pump provide energy for displacement ventilation systems to an exterior finger and to the center. I was considering placing waste water treatment along the spine of the middle finger and allowing the waste of the exterior fingers to be routed to the center for purification. Placing the system for water reclamation was considered with existing service lines minds.
