Ecublens
Its motto – “Ecublens, town and countryside” – suits it perfectly. The old Motty village, built on a moraine of the old Rhone Glacier and enjoying a panoramic view of its surroundings, is made of renovated farmhouses. Yet the opening of two new hotels since 2013 shows the vitality of this municipality that welcomes, since 1970, the Lausanne Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and a large part of the Lausanne University buildings. 7
Motty Church Erected on the Place du Motty, the Reformed church overlooks the whole territory of Ecublens. According to the specialists of the Canton of Vaud architectural census, the first construction of this
building can be traced back to the mediaeval era. Altered many times, the edifice has retained a window from 1532. In all likelihood, the belfry and its two bells go back to the mid 19th century. www.ecublens.ch
