OVERVIEW The four years of high school are a transformative experience for students. At James Island Christian School (JICS), we make the most of these years so that our graduates are ready to pursue their Godgiven talents. Whether they plan to pursue a college degree, go into the workforce, or spend time on a mission field, the course of study will apply to each student. Focusing on leadership skills that are essential for success in today’s world, the high school combines both classroom and real-life application opportunities to apply all that they learn.

Our program is designed for families who want the Biblical values they have instilled at home to be integrated into a rigorous academic program.

Knowing that a teen’s faith is challenged during these years, JICS provides the tools necessary to help students develop a Biblical worldview and strengthen their relationship with Christ, equipping them to navigate a complex and changing world beyond high school graduation.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH At James Island Christian School, spiritual growth is at the heart of our educational experience. Above all, we aim for our students to graduate with a personal relationship with Christ.

Through weekly chapel services and daily Bible classes, students explore who Jesus is and learn how to apply His teachings to their everyday lives.

We also believe that it is essential for students to wrestle with real-world topics through the lens of scripture. Students develop a personal Christian worldview and understand how that worldview impacts their beliefs and responses to real-world problems and situations. They learn to use scripture as their moral compass, even when confronted with other opinions and worldviews.

We believe that each student possesses unique gifts that can be nurtured and grown through chapels, clubs, and leadership opportunities. Students gather for weekly chapel, which includes student-led worship and speakers from both the school and community. This time provides an opportunity for students to receive nourishment from the teachings of a compelling and thought-provoking speaker sharing insights from the Word of God. Following each chapel, students are in small groups with a mentor to dive deeper into the scripture and application.

Annually high school students participate in Mission Week. This week provides opportunities for mission trips to other states, regions, and in their senior year, Spain. Students apply their leadership skills in planning, funding, and directing these trips.

TECHNOLOGY JICS has a 1:1 policy in high school. Each student is required to purchase a Chromebook for use in the classroom. We believe that technology is one of many tools for instruction and should never replace the teacher or engaging instruction. Instead, it is a supplement to the curriculum that allows for expanding the student’s digital literacy skills within a Biblical context, enhancing our students’ college and workforce readiness.

JICS SERVICE James Island Christian High School students are actively involved in serving others. Through our partnership with Red Springs Mission Camp, students participated in a variety of hands-on projects, including organizing donations and packing supplies. Through this partnership, students not only assisted in meeting the physical needs of the camp but also deepened their connection to the broader community. These service projects provide valuable opportunities for students to grow in their Christian leadership, living out their faith through action while developing a deeper understanding of the importance of compassion, teamwork, and serving others.

LEADERSHIP CURRICULUM In partnership with Student Leadership University, the JICS Leadership program will include an 8-semester leadership-based curriculum designed to develop Biblically trained leaders through reading, mentoring, and conferences. Students also attend two required (and two optional) leadership conferences.

9TH GRADE

INFLUENCE: Discover the truth about leadership, the role of theology in a leader’s life, what it takes to have impactful influence, and how to live and lead to one’s full potential.

MENTORSHIP: Develop as learners who lead and discover the true potential of their influence when they lead from a Christ-centered approach.

10TH GRADE

TIME: Provides students with an understanding of the importance of time management and the redemptive nature of time.

RELATIONSHIPS: Learn to build strong, lasting relationships with a Biblical foundation at their core.

11TH GRADE

MOTIVATION: Recognize the importance of developing a life that is rightly motivated, rightly focused, and full of obedience to Christ.

ENGAGEMENT: Learn to effectively engage the culture for Christ through serving people and solving problems.

12TH GRADE

CALLING: Understand that God calls and equips us to fulfill the callings He has for us.

DREAMING: Re-imagine what the world might look like if you lived as God intended.
