DESERT

April 22, 2015

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Service of the Desert (JFS), we welcome you to the eighth annual production of One Night Only, presented by the incomparable Michael Childers. Tonight, Michael presents “Back to the Sixties, taking us on a journey through a turbulent, wild, and magical time. This year, JFS will provide mental health counseling, substance abuse prevention education, senior care and other critical services to more than 5,000 men, women and children, including nearly 3,000 school children. Your support tonight is crucial to helping JFS continue to provide quality services to those in need throughout the Coachella Valley. JFS is a non-sectarian, non-profit organization that provides an array of counseling and social services to those in need regardless of religion, age, income, gender, ethnicity or lifestyle. Much of the success of One Night Only can be attributed to the leadership of our extraordinary event chairs: Annette Bloch, Helene Galen, Barbara Keller, Harold Matzner, Barbara Fromm, and Terri Ketover. We extend our deepest appreciation to these wonderful community leaders for their longstanding support of both this event and of JFS. Their support has been critical to our ability to provide care for thousands of Valley residents in need throughout the years. Of course, we extend our deepest appreciation to Michael for using his amazing talents to help those less fortunate. We are extremely grateful to all the performers who have so unselfishly volunteered their time and their talents. Last, but certainly not least, to all the individuals who worked or volunteered behind the scenes, we offer our deepest appreciation and sincere gratitude. Warmest regards,

Carol Fragen PRESIDENT Board of Directors

SPECIAL THANKS Jewish Family Service of the Desert would like to thank some very special people who helped make this evening possible.

From Producer Michael Childers With this year’s Back To The Sixties, I am so proud at how One Night Only has built into this amazing show over its last 10 years and has been a successful sell out with the support of this community every year. This show is only made possible by the dedicated work of dozens of people and organizations. But in particular, I would like to thank Jewish Family Service, Ed Gubman, Carol Fragen and the board for their constant support this year. Also so much appreciation to Hal Asher, Bill Nicholson and Mercury Film & Television, Debbie Green, Clark Bason and the terrific artists who dedicated their time and to the hysterically funny Charo and Bruce Vilanch - for making our television commercials so successful. Lou Christie’s first million selling song, “The Gypsy Cried”, transformed a local choirboy, Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco, into Lou Christie national teen idol - while still a teenager himself. Over the decade of the 1960’s Lou followed success with greater success. “Two Faces I Have” was his next big hit featuring his stratospheric falsetto. Lou forever embedded himself and his uniquely talented voice into America’s consciousness with his number one multi-million selling success “Lightning Strikes.” Lou’s chart topping success continued with two more million selling hits, “Rhapsody In The Rain” and “I’m Gonna Make You Mine.” Films that feature Lou’s songs include Rainman, Barcelona, The Last Days Of Disco, Before Sunrise, Dutch, Burnzy’s Last Call, and the TV mini series, Wild Palms and the Sopranos. In addition to recordings and concert appearances, Lou can be heard regularly on Sirius-XM radio. From teen idol to Rock ‘n’ Roll legend LIGHTNING LOU CHRISTIE STRIKES AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN!!!

Tony Award-nominated singer Mary Bridget Davies’ journey began in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio in 2001 when she first started singing in local bands and she hasn’t slowed down since. The powerhouse rock and blues singer’s love of music was instilled by her parents, who raised her on a healthy diet of the Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Joe Cocker and, naturally, Janis Joplin. She cites an array of contemporary artists she loves ranging from Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Avett Brothers and Florence & The Machine to Nicky Minaj, and Eminem. Upon gaining local acclaim for her work in various rock bands, she was asked to sit in with Big Brother & The Holding Company (Janis Joplin’s original band, with whom she would later tour) as well as legendary blues guitarist Robert Lockwood, Jr. Her travels have taken her around the world, including a 2-year preBroadway run with A Night With Janis Joplin. She received her Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical when the show debuted on Broadway in 2013.
