Temple Israel to host Scholar-ln-Residence Dr. Seymour Rossel, director of the Department of Education of the Union of American Hebrew CongregatioaB, will visit Temple Israel as a Scholar-inResidence from Dec. 16 through Dec. 18. Dr. Rossel lectures widely On Jewish history, edu' cation, values, the Bible, and conducts teacher workshops in Jewish communities throughout North ^ „ „ . America. ^''- Seymour Rossel He is the author of more than a dozen books for Jewish and public schools including the two-volume best-seller "A Child's Bible," "When A Jew Prays," "When A Jew Seeks Wisdom," the two-volume "Journey TTirough Jewish History," "A First Book of Family," A First Book of Judaism," "The Holocaust," "Israel, Covenant People, Covenant Land," and "Judaica Book News," "Jewish Education," "Sh'ma," and other periodicals. Several of his musical settings for liturgy have also been published. Dr. Roesel has served as vice-chairman of the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education and on the national executive boards of Central Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE), the Jewish Book Council of America, and the National Association of Temple Educators. He served as consultant to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, Union of Councils for Soviet Jewry, Los Angeles Jewish Federation, the American Association for Ethiopian Jewry, and the Skirball Museum of Hebrew Union College. In 1988, he was chairman of the CAJE 13-conference in Israel, the largest international gathering of Jewish educators ever held. Dr. Rossel is Usted in "Who's Who in the Eastern States," 'Contemporary Authors," "The International Authors and Writers Who's Who," as well as "Who's Who in Worid Jewry." In 1980, he was presented the Bonei HaNegeo award for outstanding work in Jewish education. Minister Rabin writes to Jewish communities Editor's Note: Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin sent the following letter to American Jewish communities in response to suggestions that Israel no longer needs UJA funds.

It is particularly gratifying to see UJA taking an aggressive role in the 'Israel Experience' program. Red Cross emergency radio now located at the JCC An American Red Cross disaster emergency radio station is now in its new location at the Jewish Community Center. In testing the radios, two-way contacts have been luade with locations all over Europe, the Middle Bast, Russia, Africa and islands near the South Role. AAer the station is set up, anyone interested can observe ttie activities. According to Campus Manager Mike Collier of the JCC, he lias been watching for possible interference with telephones, small radios, intercoms and TVs in the center, the Rose Blumkin Home, the Livingston Apartments, or any surrounding neighborhoods. He luggeits that if anyone suspects interference, call the JCC operator at 334-8200 and ask for a personal test. The radio* should be in limited operation in January and in regular operation by the middle of March,
