Why I care… The Caring Initiative Healthcare has been both my passion and my profession. When I retired, I volunteered to staff the Welcome Desk at a hospital. But I missed personal interaction. The Federation’s Caring Initiative gives me the opportunity to talk with Jewish patients in area hospitals. A visitor helps them pass days that can be very long. And I’ve found that the fact that we’re both Jewish provides an important link between the patient and myself.
