“When this title came to my mind I was giggling inside thinking how much innuendo it contains. This is the last time I perform on stage together with my unborn child. Then I realized that a good play on words often makes you understand the essentials. This is true in this case as well. In addition to my own songs I have picked music I have always loved: songs by Noa, Yasmin Levi, Dulce Pontes, some film music (Life is beautiful, Vengo), beautiful songs of Anatolia and South-America, Fado and of course Sephardic songs. Magnificent and delightful songs that match the concept of new lives...” /Bea Palya/

The Voice of the Prophets – Recital of Gábor Birta Wallenberg Memorial Evening Frankel Synagogue, 7 PM 1023 Budapest, Frankel Leó u. 49. Ticket price: HUF 1,900 Performers: László Fekete and Gergely Nógrádi For Jewish people Wallenberg means the embodiment of survival, escape and moral victory. His virtues and his exceptional personality place him among the eternal heroes, just like the prophets of the Old Testament. ‘The voice of the Prophets’ visualizes Wallenberg’s stages not only in music but on the large screen as well, thus all of us can come to an understanding that a pure character is not the matter of historical age, but that of the personal trial of strength and conviction. The same program can be heard on September 3, Sunday, at the Synagogue in Debrecen. Ticket price: HUF 1,000

The songs of this evening span from the traumatized existence of the Jews and from a broader perspective the man of the 20th and 21st Centuries and the grieving following the Holocaust, towards a fresh start and the chance to continue.

It is hard to imagine that Antal Szerb was beaten to death by his compatriots with the butt of a rifle. It is hard to imagine that he left behind such a huge lifework even if he did not reach the age of 44. It is hard to imagine that Antal Szerb once said about himself: I am not a litterateur, but a writer who wrote about literature for a while. Now we are following his footsteps with the help of songs. We sing what he heard or what we hear when we read his books and the stories of his life. It is impossible to understand what happened to him, but we do not want to do so anyway” – say the evening performers.
