Welcome to our third annual online sale. Join us in an exciting online event, showcasing two progressive Shorthorn programs. The group has been working together to create cattle that can go out and perform in the commercial environment as well as the show ring.
We are back for 2025 and extremely excited to show you all what we have been “cooking” over the past 12 months. Although the live offering is smaller this year, the quality is excellent. On offer this year we have selected 4 open heifer calves that come to you halter broke, started on feed and ready to go whichever direction you’d like with them. We also have on offer hard to find semen, exclusive semen through this sale, along with unique embryos and a pick of the herd flush!
We invite you to attend our open house event which will be taking place on Saturday, September 13th at the Kinsella Ag Grounds, Kinsella, AB. We will have the sale animals on display starting at 11:00am along with a lunch starting at 12:00am and a presentation put on by Heartland Feeds at 1:30pm.
Regards,
We believe strongly in developing the Junior’s in the livestock industry, be it purebred or commercial producers. Supporting the Alberta Junior Shorthorn program has been near and dear to all of our hearts. We love seeing the junior cattle producers succeed and grow in knowledge, hoping that they soon surpass us as seedstock producers.
As a group we’ve come up with the Junior Incentive Program that we will be putting on as “The Northern Roses Group”. This incentive will help assist Junior members to succeed and become involved in the Alberta Junior Shorthorn program as well as the 4-H program with their Northern Roses purchases.
Terms:
• Monetary incentive below will be usable credit towards the 2026 “The Northern Roses” sale in purchasing an animal and are in CAD.
• Qualifying shows will be the following:
• Alberta Junior Shorthorn Show
• 4-H Club Show
• For our American friends:
• Any Home State Show
• Shorthorn Junior Nationals
• Backdrop photos to be sent to the below email addresses to qualify for the credits:

Beauty 5N is a heifer that we did not want to part with, coming from the top of the “keeper” pen. She’s a female that stems from the Beauty cow family. We have let go of very few.
If you’re looking for a heifer with a deep rib, beautiful front end, sweeping belly and with some exceptional maternal bloodlines, take a look here! She is one of the first John Kinney females to be offered for sale.
John Kinney stems from the Matlock Dakara 53D cow that has been making them right! She has a beautiful teat structure and udder attachment. Sired by Guardian, he is sure to add a twist and outcross to most Canadian pedigrees and really tidying up udders and front ends. This little girl should have a VERY high quality udder once in production.

KCSF RED MERCURY 1B
BRAEBANK DEW WINNIE 1W
We have utilized KCSF Red Mercury 1B for the past several calving seasons for our first calvers. When we chatted with Kirk Seaborn at Crooked Post Shorthorns about finding a heifer safe option with the resulting calves still having grow to them and turn into functional females, he highly suggested him. We’ve used him for several years and are very happy with the results!
This fancy heifer calf is ultra sweet fronted, ultra extended and can go any which way you want her to. Breed her fancy or breed her traditional, she’s going to work either way! A female with lots of spring of rib, eye appeal and flexability in her joints.
Her dam is one that all visitors point out. A beautiful udder, lots of milk and easy doing. She’s going to be the cornerstone of our program for years to come. Take a look at her bottom side of her pedigree, she’s got a lot of progressive and highly sought after genetics!
Junior safe and sweet natured!

An exciting 75% Shorthorn plus heifer. Her sire Byland Flash 9U106 has left an impression in the Shorthorn breed and was awarded the 2024 Pacesetter Sire. A bull that continues to make them thick and showy. With “Flash” semen very limited, here is an opportunity to add a daughter to your pasture.
“1N” dam is a 50% registered first time mama that has done a heck of a job giving this gal a good start. Lots of milk and a beautiful udder, we are convinced she is going to gain the title of a no miss cow over the years. “1N” grand-dam is out of an unregistered Paintearth Rama son and a Hereford cow from Nicole’s dad’s original herd. We still have her in the herd at 12 years old. We have kept back many of her daughters over the years.
1N would qualify for the Plus Divisions at Olds Fall Classic and Farmfair International this fall.

This is one of the first Lingley’s John Kinney 7K heifers to be offered— and she’s one you won’t want to miss. A deep, dark, solid red with all the right pieces to grow into one hell of a cow. Long-bodied, big-hipped, and packed with shape through her lower third. She’s smooth on the move, square over her top, and balanced from every angle.
Her dam came from the Stein family of Langley, BC as a heifer calf, and this female brings that triedand-true, “old school” Shorthorn influence with a fresh, modern twist. These genetics aren’t easy to come by, and she’s backed by a pedigree loaded with maternal strength, longevity, and production. You can take her in any direction.

Guardian is a bull we found as a calf at only a few months old. We watched him mature and develop, seeing his potential to help us meet our goals, we accquired the Canadian semen rights. Guardian has been a program changer for us. Consistent in his type and kind. His birthweights have been uniform even when bred to various types. He adds body, style, pretties up front ends, puts on excellent feet and has been our go to for knocking off horns. His females are quickly rising to the top of our herd for their low maintenance and BEAUTIFUL udder attachments and optimal teat size/ placement.
Bulls like this never go out of style! Canadian qualified semen. Successful bidder will be be responsible for all shipping costs.

Each year we like to up the anti for the Northern Roses sale. For 2025 we have opted to offer up a pick of the herd flush! This includes all purebred and Plus Shorthorns. All our females are in our purebred herd for a reason, they posess performance, maternal calving ease, correct foot structure, udder quality and general correctness. We have made it our mission to provide other seedstock producers, but most importantly commercial cattle producers, genetics that flat out work in any environment. We are crossing the threshold of making Shorthorn cattle that are functional, easy doing, but can compete at a high level at shows.
Selling the right to one flush, of any purebred Shorthorn or Shorthorn Plus female to be picked out by December 31, 2025. Guarantee 6 freezable embryos. Buyer pays all flush costs.
Two years ago for the 1st Annual Northern Roses online sale, we offered 3 of these very same embryos. The wonderful folks at Kroner Cattle Co (Manitoba) purchased them and ended up with 2 calves on the ground.
Our goal with pairing 30B and Worldwide was to make a powerful calf that didn’t give up practicality and style. We feel the calves have done just that. The two bull calves we have on the ground now are the first calves people noticed on pasture this summer. Show ring presence, with a wide hip spread, full quarters and plenty of length.
We are almost out of our 30B embryos now but we are happy with the style that we have gotten from this pairing!
Embryos are stored at Davis Rairdan and are US Exportable.
Selling 3 embryos. Guarantee 60 day pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryo implant technician.
