FROM KRONER CATTLE CO.
Welcome to the Prairie Select sale! We are excited to bring you an exceptional group of bulls and females that we feel will go out and work. As you go through our offering, you will note a heavy presence of some matron Shorthorn and Simmental cows, as well as the influence of bulls that we feel are second to none in the Shorthorn breed in Canada. Lots 1,2 & 4 are products of our matron shorthorn cow, Creekside Julia Ann 11D, and JSF Manhattan 194J and JSF Clockwork 105K. Lots 21 & 22 are descendants of a powerful, black Preferred Stock cow and JSF Clockwork and Diamond Creek Great Guns 28G. Lot 22 is out of a functional red Simmental/Charolais cow mated to Clockwork, which resulted in a fancy roan heifer calf. The Simmental/ Shorthorn cross is producing some exceptional cattle.
In the 33 years we have been in the cattle industry, we have always put a lot of emphasis on functional cattle – quality udders, strong feet and legs and great dispositions. We implement a stringent herd health protocol of vaccinations and a comprehensive mineral program. We are very particular on the females that are kept for replacements and our in-house rule is that we don’t sell any females. Don O coerced us to bend that rule for this sale!
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance choosing the right bull for your program. Thank you for your interest in our consignments.
Marty, Nicole & Shailyn Madsen

We’ve never been ones to claim a calf is going to be the “next one”, but this dude had the look right from birth. A natural product of a momma that has been admired from the day we acquired her, and a daddy whose semen has been heavily sought after wherever it’s been sold. You want performance?? Well, Legend oozes performance! He was the heaviest shorthorn bull calf in the barn at Canadian Western Agribition weighing in at 1185 lbs, with a WDA of 3.57. Imagine what this guy could do with a group of Angus cows!? Exhibited across Manitoba and Western Canada, with a list of banners that is as impressive as the “Legend” himself. Cowboys, mark this guy in your catalogue! After all, we still get paid by the pound. Cow bull.

KCC 1M & DAM 2024 MSA SHOW FEMALE OF THE YEAR

mandate
Our first offering from our Junior herd sire, JSF Clockwork 105K. To say we’ve been impressed with his calves is an understatement. Calves come easily, with lots of growth, all in an attractive package. Mandate’s granddam is none other than Creekside Julia Ann 11D, the dam of Legend and Legacy. Cow power from both sides of the pedigree with JSF Roan Rose 57F and KL Gold Rose. Mandate’s dam, KCC 11K, is a full sibling to the ARG Hector son that was the High Seller at Douglas Test Station in 2023, selling to Fraser Farms in Nova Scotia. Let Mandate go to work and be sure to keep all his daughters. They’ll make impeccable cows!

Where to begin with Maximus….? Maximus’ maternal grandmother is from foundation black Simmental genetics along with a nice mix of fullblood Full Fleck, which goes back to our Anchor D Atzec 34N bull, the high seller at Anchor D Ranch in 2004. Combine these strong Simmental genetics with the Bell M Foreman bull and you have a future stud. A common thread in all comments is the depth of pedigree our offering has; Maximus exemplifies this fact. Polled, solid red, with a sweetheart disposition.

JSF 105K - SIRE
JSF 105K - SIRE

If you’re needing a bull to cover some extra cows, this is your guy. His sire, JSF Manhattan 194J, needs no introduction and his dam is none other than Creekside Julia Ann 11D, the 2024 Manitoba Shorthorn Show Female of the Year. We thought enough about “Julia” to add her into our flush program. Herd building genetics both top and bottom. A full brother to KCC I AM LEGEND 1M. You know there’s power in the blood!

Machismo is a stylish bull that is as docile as they come, and we think he will make some great females in the future. We had great success with his sisters last fall - a full sister was Intermediate Heifer Calf Champion at the Olds Fall Classic show while maternal sisters were Reserve Intermediate Heifer Calf, and high selling heifer calf at the Shorthorn Alliance sale. In our opinion his dam 51A was the top cow in the Prospect Hills herd with consistently good production and fertility combined with eye appeal, a sound foot and udder. It was no surprise she was the top seller at their Dispersal/Reduction sale. Fireball offspring have really come to the forefront in Canada the last number of years, winning shows and topping sales. Don’t miss out on a great son out of a solid producing cow. Free of all known genetic defects and myostatin.

His Dam 203K will no doubt be a big part of our program in the future and is very near to what we feel is the ideal female for our environment. An extremely attractive red bull that is big hipped, extra length of side and a great scrotal. He has a big wide top, great hair and a quiet disposition making him very easy to handle. His mother was the Shorthorn national champion female at Agribition in 2017. Here is a bull with excellent performance but also has calving ease. We feel he could be an option for both cows and heifers.
A standout since birth, this heavy muscled, great haired bull is the type we are proud to raise. An individual that should excel in any program that he fits into. Just like his sire he has the herd bull look at a young age all put into an attractive red roan package.

BROOKE FAMILY FARM
We would like to welcome everyone to the Prairie Select Sale! We are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to consign both bulls and replacement heifers at this venue. Although the farm has been involved in market beef production for 5 generations, our Purebred Angus program started with Luke purchasing his first Black Angus purebred heifer in 2017 at the Fall Fusion sale. The next year Logan purchased a Red Angus Heifer at the Red Round-Up sale and the Red Vs Black competition between brothers began. We decided we might as well join in and further expanded the purebred herd through both purchasing and retaining our own replacements also. We are proud to say we have been able to add some impressive bloodlines to our catalog over the years.
Our focus is on longevity, foot and utter structure, and creating breeding animals that are going to carry through and improve positive traits of conformation in their offspring. Calving ease is a must, because no one wants to venture out in the cold if they don’t have to! As we also background our commercial herd with Angus, our goal is to produce offspring that will carry the pounds to market in the fall. All our selections are halter broke, quiet, and easy to handle.
The Purebred expansion has also brought us the side benefit of meeting great producers who have been so open to sharing their knowledge and experience to help us along this journey. We are so grateful for the friendships we have made and the extended “Cattle Show Family” that we have gained!
We look forward to seeing you at the sale in Stettler April 12, and to having a chance to visit. If you have any questions about our selections on offer, or would like to arrange viewing prior to the sale, please feel free to contact us. We’d love to have you stop by and show you through the herd.

She stands proud and square on a wide base with good feet and leg structure. Her dam and grand dam are very fertile, have good feet and legs, and are beautifully uddered with ideal teat size.
