Jeffery Whippo Talks About Coronaviruses and Their History

According to Jeffery Whippo, human coronaviruses are the respiratory pathogens associated with a range of respiratory illnesses.
These coronaviruses can cause mild respiratory infections, like the common cold, but can lead to serious illnesses, like pneumonia.
The viruses cause typical cold symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, and stuffy nose, and they seemed to be very common.
Stating the evolution of coronavirus, Jeffery shares that it was first identified in 1965.
Later that decade, researchers found a group of similar human and animal viruses and named them after their crown-like appearance.
He states that seven Coronaviruses can infect humans.
The one that causes SARS emerged in southern China in 2002 and quickly spread to 28 other countries.
Jeff Whippo cites that it all started in Wuhan when a pneumonia outbreak was reported there in 2019.
It was traced to a novel strain of coronavirus, which was given the name of 2019-nCoV by WHO.
It was later renamed SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses.
Jeff shares that the human Coronaviruses HCoV-OC43, HCoV-HKU1, HCoV229E, and HCoV-NL63 continually circulate in human population and produce the generally mild symptoms of common cold in children and adults worldwide.
