Jefferson Urology Fellows 2021-2022

Our Jefferson Urology Fellow in Endourology and Robotic Surgery for the 2021-2022 academic year is Dr. Aseem Malhotra. Our fellowship is sponsored Born in India, Aseem immigrated to the United States at the age of eleven. He completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University. He was enrolled in the Bachelors in Science/MD accelerated program and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. Aseem then received his medical degree at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. His interest in Urology was piqued when he was assigned to the urology service during a week on his general surgery core rotation. He went on to complete his residency training at The University of Pennsylvania.

ASEEM MALHOTRA, MD

Dr. Malhotra is excited to join Jefferson Urology in this role. He intends to make the most of his fellowship experience to expand the breadth of his robotic training and further refine his skills in complex oncologic procedures. After completion of his fellowship, he plans to join a private practice in Alexandria, Virginia where he will be helping expand a robotics program at a new facility. His wife, Paola, whom he met while at medical school, is a current gastroenterology fellow at St. Peter’s University Hospital. The fellowship is partially funded by a grant from Boston Scientific.

CASSRA CLARK, MD, MS

Dr. Clark is a 2021 Sidney Kimmel Medical College Graduate and he joined us this year as a Research Fellow in the Department of Urology. He is a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle in 2011 with a BS in biology. He then went on to Tulane University and earned a Master’s in medical genetics and genomics from 2013-2014. Cass has previously worked in the Seattle Children's Research Institute in their therapeutic cell production core involved in the development of CAR-T immunotherapy for a variety of a pediatric malignancies. So far it has been a productive year with multiple abstracts and manuscripts published. Being able to attend and present at the Mid-Atlantic AUA conference was one of his highlights since it was his first in person opportunity because of the pandemic. Much of Cass’s research work this year has focused on our VPAC prostate cancer urine detection work in Dr. Thakur’s lab. In his spare time, he was able to participate in the Broad Street Run and Philadelphia Marathon. Cass is looking forward to participating in the upcoming 2022 Urology match.

Welcome New Urology Interns

We are pleased to welcome our new Interns to the Department of Urology. Mauro Dispagna, MD, Zachary Prebay, MD and Sage Vincent, MD started their training on June 20, 2021. Mauro is a graduate of SUNY Upstate Medical University's College of Medicine in Syracuse, New York. Zack earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Sage is a Sidney Kimmel Medical College graduate.
