Student Introductions

Personal

My name is Johnathan Campbell Siskron, however I usually go by my middle name. I grew up in Louisiana and wanted to spread my wings by attending ASU in person, while moving back to Texas to finish my masters degree online.

Louisiana
Shreveport

I have always been drawn to larger cities with active and diverse markets. For inspiration and experience, I always find walking the streets and observing the current built environment is the best way to learn about realistic design and the future.

History and Aspiration

I have been in architecture school for the last 5 years with the intention of getting my Master’s degree done with early, and as a means to improve my applications for future positions. My current goals are to stay in the Texas region and work into a large firm as a principal or lead designer, rather own a firm myself.

Began my undergraduate studies in-person at Arizona State University, Tempe

Currently of study Graduated with a BSD in architecutre and Minor in Construction Management

Currently in my last year study for my Master’s of Architecture, Online.

Eventually, I would love to focus on larger projects that have more of a community impact, and are overall more collaborative in program like civil, cultural, or educational buildings in big cities.

However, I feel I would learn a lot from smaller, boutique housing firms that focus on niche, environmental designs rather than the current trends in the housing markets of Arizona and Texas.

Style

I wouldn’t say theres any particular style I like to follow, it all depends on the type of project required, but I do enjoy studying wood and stone structures along with Louvered shading systemes and specifically envelope studies. I hope to learn more about facade details and materials this semester.

Higher Education School

Site Analysis - Phoenix

Urban Community Living
Desert Geode Collage

My two core modeling softwares are Revit and Rhinocerous, and I am pretty confident in post-production graphics and illustrations.

However, I have very little experience with rendering and more detailed images like HVAC and structure, so I hope to improve my CAD skills this semester.

Inspirations

Through precedents in my studies, I have grown to really enjoy researching larger firms that have a direct impact and style in their areas - usually that of intentional, diverse buildngs that do not fit the norm. This and direct reason behind design choices are what I strive for in my projects.

Morphosis Architecture - LA, NYC, Dubai

https://www.morphosis.com/architecture

The Perot museum is one of my favorite buildings and an iconic figure in downtown Dallas. It’s unique site layout and complex structural interior inspire me, along with the simple yet captivating exterior.

Auer Weber Architecture - Germany

https://www.auer-weber.de/startseite.html

I really enjoy this German firm’s focus on the building presentation and graphic representation on their website, as well as their planning behind busy project sites. Usually very large urban centers that improve daily life.

Baldridge Architects - Austin, TX

https://baldridge-architects.com/studio/

One of the most intentional and unique firms I have looked into, and even have had the experience to visit this project shown in person. Visually striking homes while playing directly into each site and landscape, with a focus on function.

Course Outcomes...

My Main priorities for this stuido and semester are to better prepare myself and my portfolio for best-practice and real workplace environments. This is what is most lacking in my personal development, so I wish to create a solid future plan for my licensure journey as well as better habits for what is expected in an office rather than a classroom.

Whichever project I am assigned to, I aim to improve the skills I am lacking and face the issues with an intentional mindset. Focusing on community integration and holistic integration of design, I want this semester’s graphics and technical illustrations to best prepare me for applications post-grad in the workforce.
