RC FLYING FIELD From April through mid-October each year, the Shawnee Mission Radio Control Club offers free Beginner's Nights for persons wanting to learn to fly a remote controlled aircraft at its flying field on the south side of Shawnee Mission Park. Help Us Make a Greener Johnson County! Recycling bins for plastic bottles and aluminum cans are located at all park shelters in JCPRD parks. Please place all waste materials in the correct recycling bin or trash receptacle or take it with you. In addition, Paper Retriever bins from Abitibi are available to collect mixed paper at Antioch and Shawnee Mission parks. The bins accept newspapers, magazines, catalogs and all types of loose paper with the exceptions of brightly-colored paper and cardboard.
