On May 14, the Chamber proudly celebrated the graduation of the Leadership Johnson City Class of 2025 during its Membership Breakfast at Milligan University. The ceremony marked the culmination of a ten-month workforce development program that equips emerging leaders with a deeper understanding of the community they serve
Throughout the program, these dedicated professionals have immersed themselves in the inner workings of Washington County connecting with local businesses, exploring key industries and discovering how various sectors collaborate to shape our region’s future From milking cows alongside agriculture partners to experiencing a rooftop tour of Niswonger Children’s Hospital, class members gained hands-on insight into the successes, challenges and innovative efforts driving our local economy.

On May 1, the Chamber received a proclamation from the Johnson City City Commission, recognizing May 4-10 as National Small Business Week. The Chamber was honored to received this proclamation and speak about the importance of our community’s 4000+ small businesses and the impact they have on our economy The Chamber used the presentation as a kickoff to it’s NSBW promotions.
On May 14, the Chamber welcomed 15 new members for New Member Orientation, sponsored by Garza Law Firm Our new Chamber members were able to network with each other, meet the Chamber staff and learn more about the benefits of their membership Best of all, the Chamber was able to welcome them to the front row seat to the progress and bright future of our Washington County business community. We hope you help us welcome these new members.
On May 14, the Chamber joined Milligan University, the Elizabethton/ Carter County Chamber and over 130 of our region’s business leaders for an incredible Membership Breakfast! We heard from Milligan’s leaders, witnessed the Elizabethton Chamber induct a new Board Chair and graduated our Leadership Johnson City Class of 2025! We are grateful for Milligan University’s efforts to retain young talent.
On May 21, the Chamber held a Lunch & Learn with Kaylee Murphy with the Frontier Health Foundation This joint event with our Young Professional of Johnson City focused on positive mental health in the workplace and it’s relation to employee well-being and productivity This event, sponsored by the Bob Owens Community Leadership Fund, was in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Chamber is committed to continuing this conversation.
