SPORT TOURISM MASTER CLASS 13th & 14th October 2016

PROGRAMME INFORMATION PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE The aim of the Sport Tourism Master Class is to introduce participants to the theories and concepts of sport tourism as opposed to sport management. This would allow for the development of persons capable of operating in the sector effectively and efficiently.

LEARNING AND PERFORMANCE OUTCOME At the end of this programme, participants will be able to: 1. Differentiate between sport tourism and sport management. 2. Discern sport as a distinct tourism product and identify the features/facets of the product including community sport tourism. 3. Identify key elements/factors for the successful development and implementation of a strategy to grow sport as a tourism product. 4. Identify key knowledge, skills and attitudes for key personnel in the sport tourism sector.

PROGRAMME CONTENT: 1. Defining Sport Tourism 2. Conceptualizing Sport Event Tourism 3. Designing the Sport Event Tourism Portfolio 4. Marketing Sport Event Tourism 5. Economic Benefits 6. Economic Impact 7. Development and Implementation 8. Experience Management The programme will be delivered on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th October 2016, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre by Dr. Daniel Funk, Professor in the Sport and Recreation Management Program and Washburn Senior Research Fellow for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Temple University. Registration fee: $4,000.00 per person.
