Jason Bahr is an accomplished composer living in southwest Florida. He has received over 500 combined performances of his works, including performances across the United States and around the world. Bahr holds a doctorate in Music Composition from Indiana University. He is a recipient of a MacDowell Colony Residency, a Fromm Foundation commission, has won the Northridge Prize for Orchestral Composition, the Cambridge Madrigal Singers Choral Composition Competition and other awards. Bahr is an active performer and is the bass section leader for the Opera Naples (Florida) Chorus. He has also served as the bass section leader at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, FL, and for the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers. Bahr has written two symphonies, a flute concerto and other assorted works for orchestra, 20 chamber works, 15 piano preludes, 13 additional works for solo instruments, ten choral works, and 20 songs. He recently completed a one-act opera based on O. Henry’s short story, The Gift of the Magi. Bahr’s current project, Letters from Elbert, sets excerpts of letters his grandfather wrote while in the Navy during World War II. A Kansas City native, Bahr is an avid of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He makes his home with his wife Rebecca and their cat Ray. Soli Deo Gloria www.jasonbahrmusic.com
