Welcome I have always loved breeding good looking beef cattle of any breed. My passion is for crossbreeding, which Speckle Park do spectacularly well with all other breeds! The breeding of seedstock animals using technologies such as Artificial Insemination, has been my driving force for over 30 years. Firstly, with Murray Greys, then Angus and since 2010 - Speckle Park.

My early mentors in the beef industry taught me an especially important fact: “A dead calf has a distressingly poor growth rate”.

Therefore, to pass the definition of a breeding cow - a cow needs to calve as a two-year-old, raise her calf, get back in calf and do so every year to stay in the herd. Fertility is the number one profit driver for any breeding herd, for seedstock herds first and foremost. Add to this, selection pressure for structure, docility, maternal function, growth, meat quality and you have the basis of breeding for genetic gain. This should be the philosophy of seedstock producers in genetic supply to the other producers in the industry.

To this end we present for sale our entire mature herd of 11 years of stud breeding. There are no embryos retained and the only animals not being offered at this sale are 10 ‘S’ drop ET calves that are too young for the sale and are on recipients with contract embryos implanted that cannot be sold. So, it is a genuine mature herd dispersal. We are not out of Speckle Park cattle, nor cattle breeding. We are simply scaling back our workload with Stud Cattle to concentrate on our expanding and busy artificial breeding business -Beef Genetics- where we conduct Artificial Inseminations, ultra-sound pregnancy scanning, semen testing, freezebranding, consultancy, semen and equipment sales.

We are proud of this offering developed through rigorous culling and multiplying the best genetics. Some of these animals from the Blue Spark herd are deserved of seeing widespread use and so we now pass the breeding decisions on to the new owners who can build on the strong base we have created over the past 11 years.
