Student scheduling and grading systems generally have functionality to support required flexibilities. Training will be provided to support schools and Networks in the use of STARS, ATS, and Galaxy.
A comprehensive audit of the NYC DOE, which included credit recovery, found inconsistent practices in the implementation of credit recovery courses in our High Schools. As a result, and to ensure that City high schools’ credit recovery programs award credit only for rigorous work, the use of credit recovery has been limited. The CAO and staff from the DOE’s Policy Department (RPSG) will provide further clarification, including a toolkit, via the Clusters and the Networks. 1. The iZone advocated SED to consider regulations that would support schools in developing innovations. The result was the current regulation, Credit for Online and Blended Coursework. This regulation addresses the issue of seat time. As such, a separate regulation addressing seat time will not be required.
