The theme of the 2024 fall primary recruitment process is "Electric Love." Our goal is to show Potential New Members as well as remind chapter members what a strong sisterhood looks like. As women part of the Greek community, we uplift, support & honor each other. Sisterhood is about forming lifelong connections, holding each other accountable, being able to count on others & being counted on to make a difference in the community. This is an opportunity to interact with women from all majors, grade levels, socioeconomic statuses, diversity of thought, and racial backgrounds and exemplify the core strength of sisterhood, which is "acceptance of all". From these interactions, our community is made stronger. This is sisterhood. The Panhellenic Association is the advocate group for women 's-only Greek organizations, devoted to creating a community of respect, diversity, creativity, and integrity. We, officers of the Panhellenic Association at Indiana State, would like to promote and advocate all sisterhood and siblinghood organizations within the Fraternity and Sorority Life at Indiana State. The councils that oversee these organizations are the National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Interfraternity Council ( e a community of trust throughout all of Greek ning the sorority experience.

The National Panhellenic Conference
The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is an organization composed of 26 national and international sororities. Each member organization is an autonomous social group consisting of members who are college and university undergraduate students and alumnae. At Indiana State University, 9 NPC organizations on campus make up the Panhellenic Association. Each member organization is an autonomous social group consisting of women who are college and university undergraduates and alumnae.
Mission, Vision, and Values
NPC is the primary advocacy and support organization for the advancement of the sorority experience. The vision statement for NPC is "Advancing the Sorority Experience Together". At Indiana State University, the Panhellenic Association is committed to relationships built on trust through transparency, accountability, and mutual respect. Innovation and our core values of friendship, leadership, service, knowledge, integrity, and community guide us in fulfilling our mission.

Purpose of NPC
The purpose of the National Panhellenic Conference is to promote and advance the common interest of women 's-only sororities. The Conference achieves this through inter-fraternal cooperation and strong partnerships with college and university representatives to support high academic and social standards for women.
Panhellenic Creed
We, as Undergraduate Members of women ’ s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities. We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. Vice
Recruitment counselors are a critical part of the Panhellenic team during recruitment. The Panhellenic Association trains a special and talented group of sorority members for the purpose of providing support and guidance during the recruitment process. These recruitment counselors model the way for Potential New Members (PNMs) as they navigate primary recruitment. Rho Gammas, or recruitment counselors, serve as a confidant and guide as PNMs search for organizations that meet their needs and match their values. Rho Gammas fully remove themselves from their sororities and do not reveal their affiliation during the recruitment process. This enables them to focus on Potential New Members' questions and concerns. The Rho Gammas offer valuable information regarding Fraternity & Sorority Life, academic classes, and other opportunities available to you as a member of Indiana State University. PNMs should make the most of their relationship with their Rho Gammas.

Potential New Member’s
Recruitment is a process that requires a reasonable commitment of time and effort. The Panhellenic Association Expects that each PNM will attend every round of recruitment and will attend each party that they are invited to by any given chapter. If a PNM cannot attend recruitment events, they must communicate with their Rho Gamma in advance. They will have the opportunity to fill out an absence form and submit one letter per recruitment round they will miss, which will go to all the chapters she was invited back to.
PNMs may communicate with Chapter Members outside of recruitment events. However, PNMs shall not discuss recruitment with chapter members in any form (written, verbal, etc.) outside of recruitment rounds. PNMs must report any violation of this requirement to their Rho Gammas, Panhellenic Executive Officers, or the Fraternity & Sorority Life Office.
PNMs must wear the provided name tag throughout each Recruitment Round. Panhellenic needs to know your name and how you would like to be identified. Wearing your nametag can aid in this process.
A PNM must contact one of her Rho Gammas if they wish to no longer participate in the recruitment process and must complete a withdrawal evaluation

This is accomplished by abiding by the following agreements:
A potential new member (PNM) shall attend recruitment orientation and all membership recruitment events for which she receives invitations
Respect for the membership recruitment process is expected at all times This includes respect toward chapter members, recruitment counselors, Panhellenic officers, faculty, staff, and other potential new members. PNMs should refrain from sexist, homophobic, racist, or otherwise abhorrent conversations. I understand my rights under the PNM Bill of Rights and if I experience discrimination I know how to report it to the College Panhellenic Potential new members as well as sorority members must do their best to not touch or shake hands in any way. This helps prevent the spread of illness.
Membership recruitment is a substance-free process Women may not use or be in the presence of drugs and alcohol during the membership recruitment period Violation of this rule will result in immediate removal from the membership recruitment process
Potential new members should be fully aware of the financial obligations of membership before accepting a bid. It is to the PNM’s advantage to ask questions during recruitment events if there are questions about finances.
Potential new members agree to treat the chapter videos and virtual recruitment parties as confidential Potential new members will not share any video or virtual recruitment event, including a video in its entirety, or recordings, clips, screenshots, and/or quotes from video or other recruitment events. Potential new members understand that any breach of this agreement could result in disciplinary action. Potential new members understand that if they sign a Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA) after the preference round, they are bound to that document and the chapter that extends them a bid This means that the PNM is ineligible for an invitation to membership from another NPC organization until the next primary recruitment on that campus.
Failure to abide by the expectations stated above will result in the review of your status as a potential new member The first offense will result in a warning from Panhellenic Recruitment Staff. The second offense will result in being released from the 2020 Panhellenic Recruitment process. If the first offense is determined to be severe enough by the Panhellenic Recruitment Staff, a potential new member could be subject to an immediate release from the Panhellenic Recruitment process.

Hazing Prevention
Hazing in any form at Indiana State University is prohibited. Hazing is prohibited in connection with the activities of students and student organizations. Hazing shall be defined as any conduct that subjects another person, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or psychologically, to anything that may abuse, degrade, or intimidate the person as a condition of association with an organization or group (formal or informal), regardless of the person ’ s consent or lack of consent ”
Alcohol Policies
Policies regarding the use and distribution of alcohol can be found in the Code of Student Conduct. Panhellenic Association-planned or -sponsored events shall be alcohol-free. Each College Panhellenic Association shall prohibit the use of alcoholic beverages in membership recruitment and Bid Day activities. The recruitment counselors and Panhellenic officers are required to abstain from alcohol use prior to and throughout the recruitment process. Additionally, members of fraternities and sororities must comply with local, state, and federal laws, as well as policies outlined by their national organization, advisor(s), and housing board (if applicable).

chapters. PNMs will visit all of the chapters during the open house round. Invitations to the second, third, and fourth rounds are made based on the preferences of the PNM and the selections of the chapters. A PNM's schedule will be maximized so that they are able to meet with as many chapters as possible during their primary recruitment experience.
There is no guarantee that a PNM will receive a bid from any sorority. However, if a PNM progresses through the week, attends all the events they are invited to during the fourth round, and lists all of those chapters on their preference sheet that night, they will likely receive a bid for one of those chapters. The Panhellenic Association makes every effort to allow each PNM the best opportunity to join the sorority of their choice, but there is no guarantee that a PNM will be placed within that specific sorority. It is important for PNMs to keep an open mind during the recruitment process and use this as an opportunity to make new friends!

At the completion of the primary recruitment period, all PNMs who were invited to at least one preference event are given the option to sign a membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement (MRABA). In order to receive a bid from a sorority on campus, an MRABA must be signed. The MRABA is used on every campus that has NPC member organizations. Read through it on the next page!

Expectations
The purpose of this round is to introduce you to all nine Panhellenic sororities in our Greek community. You will visit every sorority and get to know the chapter. One woman will meet you at the door, and act as your hostess while you are visiting her chapter. You may be introduced to multiple women in each chapter. During this round, you will visit each sorority for twentyfive minutes. You may feel a little overwhelmed because the pace of this day is so fast. This round is just meant to allow you and the chapter to get to know each other.
Conversation Suggestions
Don’t worry if you don’t have time for in-depth conversations. Don’t be afraid to ask your members questions about their sorority, or sorority life in general. Be sure to tell her about yourself as well. Each sorority wants to get to know as much about you as possible. Be careful of first impressions, they can be misleading. Remember that the parties are short, so if you feel you need another look to decide, take it. Most importantly, have fun and be yourself! Remember, the sororities want you to like them as much as you want them to like you!
Following Round 1
Answer the following questions.
At which sororities did you feel the most comfortable? Why?
At which sororities did you discuss things that are most important to you? List some qualities about yourself that would be an asset to a sorority. For a minute, think about each chapter you visited. Write down the people there whom you liked, the attitudes they had, and the ways the chapter was able to make a positive impression on you. It is possible that you will not receive every invitation you desire. What will you do if this happens? You might want to discuss this possibility with your Rho Gamma.

Expectations
This round is geared towards learning more about each chapter’s philanthropies, and how they support them! You will partake in activities and conversations that will help you to understand and appreciate each chapter’s philanthropic contributions locally and nationwide. During these rounds, you will also be given the opportunity to look closer at each chapter’s personality and to become better acquainted with members of the chapters. Conversations will allow you to learn more about the chapter members and programs that can enhance your Indiana State experience.
Conversation suggestions
Communication is key as you get further into the process. Conversations start to get longer, more meaningful, and more in-depth. You should be looking for certain attributes you want in your sorority and sorority sisters. Scholarship, sincerity, friendliness, and adaptability are all strong attributes that are emphasized during this round. Listen carefully to decide if the achievements and activities they speak about are also important aspects of your college goals. Ask the hostess about her sorority. It is important to also keep your values in mind during these rounds.
Following Round 2
List the skills and abilities you have that you would like to share with a sorority. In which chapters do you think these could be utilized? For a minute, let’s assume that you don’t receive an invitation from your favorite chapters. We’d like you to list all the chapters that you visited tonight. Make a list of the ways that these sororities could contribute to your college experience

Expectations
This round starts to deepen your relationship with the sisters of the chapters. This round is geared towards what sisterhood means to them, and how thier values are shown in their sisterhood. During these rounds, you will also be given the opportunity to look closer at each chapter’s personality and to become closer with members of the chapters. The conversations you have will allow you to learn more about the chapter, members, and programs that can enhance your experience at Indiana State University.

Preparing for
Preference is the most serious day of recruitment. You may visit up to two sororities on this night. This round can be the most emotional step of the sorority recruitment process because it is the last round before bid day, and you may have deeper conversations with chapter members. During preferences, think back on the previous rounds and recall what you liked best about each sorority. This will help you form a complete impression of the sororities, and help you to decide where you feel most comfortable.
After the preference, please consider the following questions to help you determine your choices.

Scholarship & Academics
Sorority members exhibit a high level of commitment to and place a special emphasis on academics. Members benefit from programs that provide supervised study periods and peer tutoring. Additionally, they learn time management skills and how to prioritize responsibilities. Each sorority also requires certain minimum GPAs of its members. All of the chapters, as well as Panhellenic, place a great deal of importance on encouraging, developing, maintaining, and rewarding academic success
Sisterhood & Friendship
The goal of the sorority commnity is to provide a variety of co-curricular programs to expose members to a wide range of opportunities, including social activities. You will be able to enjoy chapter retreats, sisterhood activities, philanthropic activities, and formals in the company of your new sisters. The development of these relationships can lead to lasting friendships and a lifetime of memories.
Philanthropy & Service
A strong tradition shared by all of Indiana State’s sororities is the support of chosen philanthropies and service-oriented projects on the local, national, and international levels. Sorority women on Indiana State’s campus volunteer and raise money for worthy causes. Our organizations also support local charities and participate in a wide variety of service projects throughout the year.
Leadership & Integrity
The Greek community offers a wide variety of opportunities for women to develop leadership skills and find a venue for campus and community involvement in the many organizations in their chapter and on Indiana State’s campus outside the Greek community. Sorority women can be found in the Student Government Association, Residential Life staff, The Statesman staff, as well as academic and leadership honorariums, just to name a few.

To this end, the NPHC promotes the well-being of its affiliate fraternities and sororities, facilities the establishment and development of local councils of the NPHC and provides leadership training for its constituents." Active: An initia
Badge Fee: Each to purchase a badge and others include it in the initiation fee. Badges may be very simple or jeweled. If a member is purchasing her badge, she determines how much or little she would like to spend.
Bid: An invitation to join a sorority.
Campus Director: The recruitment management software used at ISU.
Intentional Single Preference: When a PNM who attended more than one preference event lists only one chapter on her membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement following preference round
Chapter: The campus extension of a regional, inter/national, or locally recognized sorority
Chapter Dues: These monies fund member activities including programming, recruitment, chapter supplies, and chapter operations.
House Usage Fee: The entire membership has access to the house and thus the property is subject to a great deal of wear and tear. This fee is used primarily for care and maintenance of the property and furnishings in the common areas of the chapter facility.
Initiation: The formal ceremony in which an individual becomes a full member of a Greek organization
Initiation Fee: Fee paid to finalize initial membership in the organization
Legacy: A potential new member whose immediate family member is a member of a particular sorority
New Member: A woman who has accepted a bid from a sorority, but has not yet been initiated.

Released: If a PNM does not match with a chapter through any round of the primary recruitment process or she does not receive a bid, she is removed from the process.
Ritual: The traditions, beliefs, and oaths of a sorority.
Sister: Term used by sorority members when referring to each other.
Strict Silence: The period of time after the close of preference events and prior to the distribution of bids when there is no communication between potential new members and sorority women
Total: The maximum number of members a Panhellenic chapter is allowed to have on campus.
