Raising Money for Sick Kids
In April, Alex Bolinger’s Individual andOrganizational Behavior class held a Make-A-Wish fundraiser in order to raise money for terminally ill children in Southeast Idaho. It was a great learning experience for the students,(pictured below, left to right) Burke Khapp, RebeccaSteed, Nicole Milford, and Victoria Steckline. For the event, students developed the idea for a pop-up thrift shop, which was held in ISU’s Pocatello campus Student Union building. The students placed donation boxes in the residence halls on campus and received an overwhelming amount of donated clothing and shoes. After the event was over, they took the remaining clothing to the IdahoYouth Ranch. The event raised $400, which Jessica Budzianowski, Director of Development of Make-A-Wish Idaho, says, “Is enough to provide a child a fun and great experience.” The Boise State University College of Business and Economics will be using Bolinger’s class as a model for developing a similar course in their own college in the coming semesters.
