S T E TWE MRS. A’S CORNER
GREETINGS FROM SWIMMING INSTRUCTORS I am Stephen Dogo, the swimming coach at the spectacular ICS. Swimming has been a huge source of joy and tranquillity in my life over the past few years and guess what teaching has been even more fun. I see that ICS is a result-driven school, focussed on the child’s overall development and this is my added motivation: to pour out my wealth of experience into the collective goal of developing the swimming ability of the wonderful children at ICS. I look forward to an exciting time of learning and teaching here. Continued on Page 2
Happy New Year and welcome back students, parents and staff. We know that God has new blessings in store as we draw on His strength and serve Him with all our hearts. We are very pleased that the Lord has brought 24 new students, of which seven are returning and we are still praying for more families to join us. We welcome the following families to ICS: Ezeh, Ezeani, Williams, Onyema, Analo, Awa and Chidoka and welcome back to the Imam’s, the Ndubaku’s and the Awofisayo’s. We have some more good news. Last year Mrs. O. announced that she was going away for a while for medical reasons. We are thrilled to report that Mrs. O. had a successful hip replacement operation and is making excellent progress. Please join us in praying for her quick recovery and for wonderful testimonies. GREETINGS FROM SWIMMING INSTRUCTORS Continued from Page 1 My name is Ms. Florence David. I am a swimming coach certified by the Nigeria Aquatic federation. I have been coaching swimmers for the past six years in various schools, including ICS. I have a passion for swimming, especially the part where I get to be with the younger kids. Teaching them the techniques and most importantly safety around water areas. I am so grateful to God for the opportunity to be part of the ICS community as the swimming instructor, teaching the students, fun, confidence and most of all safety whenever they find themselves in water areas. I inspire students by telling that swimming is an important survival skill and a wonderful exercise to keep your whole body engaged. I look forward to a fruitful stay in ICS.

FRENCH COLUMN S’il vous plaît - Please Same as "excusez-moi" (excuse me), "pardonnez -moi" (pardon me, I beg your pardon), and "je suis désolé(e)" (I'm sorry), this phrase is a useful one to learn as part of basic French politeness.
CLUB FAIR IS HERE!!! Welcome to the New Year! Club fair will take place at the Gym next week Wednesday from 2:30-3:30pm for Kindergarten to Grade 5 and Thursday from 3:00-4:00pm for Grade 6 to Grade 12. All our parents are invited to attend. It is an opportunity to meet with the individual club leaders, ask questions and help your children choose a club for this semester. Sign-up forms will be given to your children the same day, which once completed can be submitted to our Admin office. Some of our clubs have very limited slots. If the club is full we place your children in their second choice. Due to the popularity of Cooking and Virtual Reality clubs, we will give priority to students who have not been signed-up for these clubs before. Clubs begin the following week on Wednesday January 29th (Kindergarten to Grade 5) and Thursday January 30th (Grades 6 to 12).

MRS. A’S CORNER Continued from Page 1 She is due to return to Abuja towards the end of February and we can’t wait to see her. This week we held the second Student-led Conference and we would like to thank all of you who attended. These sessions are an essential opportunity to find out from your child/ren what they are learning and how they are progressing. Next week MAP testing starts for our Elementary students. If you have any questions on the MAP tests please speak with your child’s teacher. While Mrs. O. is away I have been given the privilege of writing her Corner in the Tweets. Hence Mrs. A.’s corner at the top of the page. Wishing you a happy weekend.
