AD - 1 Never just par for the course. The playing field has changed. Stuffy traditionalists no longer rule the turf. Today’s fairways are full of a fresh crop of seeds who have begun popping up on the leaderboards at tournaments around the world. Ian Poulter is a perfect example of this new breed of golfer who respects the sanctity of the game without bowing down to its more antiquated

conventions. Ian and his fellow contemporaries have loosened it up while electrifying audiences with their on-course action and after-event antics. It’s a much-needed infusion of unorthodox energy, just like Oakley injects into the sport every year by constantly reinventing itself, in a perpetual state of youth, never willing to settle for the same old score.

WELCOME On behalf of Tavistock Group and Texas Tech University, welcome to the

2010 Isleworth Collegiate Invitational hosted by Texas Tech. We are pleased to welcome 15 of the

nation’s top collegiate golf teams, including 2009 ICI defending champion, Oklahoma State, to the legendary Isleworth Golf & Country

Club, home to many of the world’s

elite golf professionals.

Tavistock Group and Texas Tech

University are committed to making this event the best collegiate tournament in the country. We would like to wish all the players and coaches a fantastic three days of competitive golf on one of the nation’s longest and

toughest courses.

The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational hosted by Texas Tech would not exist

without the continuing support of our sponsors. Thank you for your

generous donations. Without you, this tournament would not be possible. Finally, a huge thank you goes out to the entire Isleworth staff and

volunteers for their commitment to college golf. We are grateful for the countless hours you contribute to make this tournament a success.

Enjoy the tournament!

CHARGING FORWARD & LOOKING BACK

The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational hosted by Texas Tech celebrated many firsts in 2009, signifying a year of change for the annual collegiate golf tournament. Designed to give players and coaches the feel of a PGA Tour event, the ICI provides collegiate golfers the opportunity to compete on one of the toughest courses in the nation against some of the best amateur players in the game. In 2009, the most noteworthy individual performance came from Alabama’s Bud Cauley, who claimed Medalist honors by finishing the tournament at 5-under par. Top-ranked Oklahoma State claimed its first team victory at the 2009 tournament, unseating the longtime defending champion, University of Georgia. The Bulldogs hold the record for most ICI victories, having won four of the six team titles since the tournament began. Last year also marked the ICI’s first foray into the social media world. In between birdies and bogeys, the ICI tweeted round-by-round updates via Twitter and released tournament news and photos through Facebook status updates. Even so, a new champion, host university and logo could not outshine the ICI’s nostalgic past. Former ICI contenders Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark were the talk of the tournament for more reasons than one. Just a year after their 2008 ICI appearance, Oklahoma State’s

Fowler and USC’s Lovemark soared to new heights as PGA Tour up-andcomers. Credited as college golf ’s most coveted event, the ICI has invited the most competitive field of teams in collegiate golf since its 2004 inception. In 2010, the tournament secured 10 of the top 25 teams in the country, highlighted by defending ICI champions and preseason top-ranked Oklahoma State. For more information on past teams and players, visit isleworthcollegiate.com.

aBunch of Bull Since Joe Lewis, owner and founder of Tavistock Group, acquired Isleworth in 1993, he has routinely installed beautiful sculptures throughout the community for residents, members and guests to enjoy. The Charging Bull is a continuation of this tradition.

LOCATION The Charging Bull is located at Bowling Green Park in New York City and at Isleworth Golf & Country Club between the #1 and #10 tees.

HISTORY The original Charging Bull first arrived in front of the New York Stock Exchange under the cover of night on December 15, 1989 as a Christmas gift from the artist to the people of New York. Because it lacked a permit, the sculpture was immediately removed by police. The public outcry was so great over its removal that the Bull was placed a few days later in Bowling Green, the city’s oldest park.

“My favorite ICI memory is taking our team picture by the Bull.” NILS FLOREN Texas Tech University

SPECS Weight: 7,000 lbs. Height: 10 ft. Length: 16 ft. Material: Bronze

ARTIST The artist who created the sculpture was Italian-American Arturo DiModica.

SYMBOLISM The Charging Bull is one of the world’s most well-known symbols of American capitalism and prosperity.

TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS Texas Tech University is in the midst of the most exciting time in the school’s history. As the university embarks on becoming the state’s next national research university, the opportunities for students could not be greater. Established in 1923, Texas Tech University sits on a 1,840-acre campus that features expansive lawns, impressive landscaping and Spanish Renaissance–style architecture. Texas Tech has the distinction of being the largest comprehensive higher education institution in the western two-thirds of the state and serves a region larger than 46 of the nation’s 50 states. A major research university with the feel of a smaller liberal arts institution, Texas Tech’s enrollment of more than 30,000 allows students to have one-on-one interactions with top faculty in a safe, traditional campus atmosphere. The university offers more than 150 bachelor’s degrees, 100 master’s degrees and 50 doctoral degree choices. As part of the Texas Tech University System, Texas Tech shares the same campus with sister university Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Texas Tech is the only institution in the state with undergraduate and graduate schools, a law school and medical school all in close proximity to each other, which facilitates the transition to professional studies. Texas Tech’s golf course, developed by architect Tom Doak, has been honored by multiple golf publications as one of the country’s top collegiate courses. Golfweek ranked the course third in its 2007 rankings, while TurfNet and GOLF Magazine have both previously included the course among their top-five college courses. The course is named after Texas Tech alumnus Jerry S. Rawls, who generously donated the majority of the funding needed to make the facility one of the top courses in the nation. Rawls is also the namesake for Texas Tech’s Rawls College of Business.

1990s

In 1993, Joe Lewis fulfills the dream of creating the finest golf club community in the world by planting thousands of trees and flowers, installing a collection of monumental sculptures throughout the garden-like grounds, and fostering some of the most exquisite architecture in Florida. This transformation attracts prominent business executives, professional athletes and celebrities who begin taking up residence in Isleworth.

2000s

Isleworth Golf & Country Club becomes a sportsman’s playground, offering some of the finest boating, fishing and water recreation opportunities, and serving as the site of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational and PGA-sanctioned Tavistock Cup.

2010s

Isleworth earns national acclaim, selected among the top 100 courses in the country in rankings by Travel + Leisure Golf, Wall Street Journal, GolfWeek and LINKS Magazine.

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS Long before exquisite estate homes, a championship golf course, a lavish clubhouse and monumental statues stood in what is now the community of Isleworth Golf & Country Club, the area was a prime citrus-producing operation with a fascinating history dating back more than a century. In the many years before Isleworth was created, the 1,600 acres of citrus land along the Butler Chain of Lakes was already a community in its own right. Discovered by brothers Sydney and Joshua Chase, Isleworth Groves was a renowned citrus-growing area, dotted with homes and barracks for grove workers and their families, a packing house, a chapel and the Chase family homestead.

Golfing icon Arnold Palmer dreamed of developing the world’s finest golf club community on this beautiful property, and in 1984, Isleworth was born. In 1993, Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group acquired Isleworth and embarked on fulfilling this dream with one simple precept — only the best. As we prepare to celebrate Isleworth’s 25-year anniversary, we reflect on the people, events and traditions that have made Isleworth the community it is today.

Golf Course Intro WELCOME TO ISLEWORTH “The varying terrain set amongst the Butler Chain of Lakes makes Isleworth a very special golf course. The feeling we hope members will all have after playing 18 holes at Isleworth is that they would like to go right back out and play another 18 holes.”

AROUND THE LAKE

The front nine at Isleworth tests the mightiest of players, rating two strokes tougher than the back nine. Holes 1 through 5 are characterized as the most difficult stretch on the course, and of the devilish first five holes, the opening hole is the only realistic birdie chance. Few have been able to play the 2nd and 3rd holes under par, and these two holes continually yield more bogeys than any other on the course. Many a golfer has seen four or five shots easily disappear on this stretch of holes. 2010 ICI JOURNAL

The back nine is less menacing than the front nine in terms of difficulty, but requires a little thought and effort to overcome strategic hurdles, including severe slopes and multiple-level greens. Nowhere does the course come more alive than the 11th, known for its thousands of colorful flowers and shrubs. The 14th and 15th are nearly as picturesque, with views of Lake Butler, the biggest of all the lakes in the Butler Chain. The 16th is the last real chance for a birdie before reaching the pressure-packed 17th and 18th holes, which call for both accuracy and length and present two of the most challenging greens on the entire course.
