Landings Shopping Center retailers provide big boost to LHCF By Karl Maggard

This year marked a milestone in our efforts to provide holiday gifts for children who are affected by cancer, abuse or loss of a loved one. For the past five years, Landings residents have been wonderfully supportive of our efforts to help “our kids” with the Landings Holiday Charitable Foundation (LHCF). Over the past three years, we have asked PUBLIX for support and they have been terrific. They have both adopted kids and supplied families with holiday turkeys. We decided to seek participation by other retailers in our shopping center who would be willing to participate and the response has been overwhelming. In addition to PUBLIX adopting 10 children for whom they are buying and wrapping gifts, they donated 32 turkeys for our families. Store manager Matt Ferrugia, Assistant Manager Ryan Schlotterback, and Rebecca Mckeehan also provided food for our events. STATION 400 has again adopted three kids. Owner Deen Fox and Landings store manager Austin Fox have been great supporters. Our banks (who for corporate reasons cannot be identified by name), have

agreed to buy and wrap gifts. Sam Bligh, the manager of our branch last year, who has moved on to a different branch, even has personally adopted two children! The response from our new retailers has also been nothing short of amazing. APOLLONIA (owners Eddie and Eda Yzieri) adopted four children within a few minutes of learning about the program. If you haven’t met the Yzieris, they are a wonderful couple. We urge you to say hello. You will probably see many of your Landings neighbors eating there when you visit. STARBUCKS AT THE LANDINGS adopted two kids on the spot and based on the response from their customers, increased their support to six children! Mark and Karen have been great. DOG PERFECT - our newest retailer has enthusiastically endorsed the program by adopting two kids. Thanks to manager, Walter Fitzroy and Megan Boston Wood for their support. ROOMS TO GO - we thought we would expand beyond the immediate Landings Shopping Center and that proved to be productive. General Manager Brian Franklin wholeheartedly got behind the

program. He and his employees have agreed to buy and wrap gifts for three kids. SALLY’S BEAUTY SUPPLY manager Autumn agreed to adopt a child and has been very supportive. PDQ has provided food for our events as well as coupons for discounts during the holiday for our families who are in need. Operating Director Mark Dennis, Store Manager Robert Saalfeld, and Manager Maegan Phebus have been totally supportive and very generous. Many other retailers have been contacted and either couldn’t support the program this year or have programs of their own. Others like, FRESH TOMATOES, OLIVE GARDEN, WEST MARINE, SIMONS, CORKSCREW DELI have given in kind gifts of food or products. Please thank these great Landings retailers for their support of the program when you frequent them. We are pleased to call them friends and neighbors.
