Mickey Bartlett Is Not Even Sorry Straight out of the comedy hub that, somehow, is Lurgan, Micky Bartlett is Northern Ireland’s answer to Kevin Bridges. In his new show Micky explores relationships…again, and tells everyone what it’s like to be mildly famous and absolutely broke. He’s still afraid of his parents…he’s still a bit too chubby...and he still thinks he’s a student…but he’s still hilarious! Only a young pup, but with the comic skill of a seasoned professional Mickey has featured in three recent BBC NI series: ‘Find Me the Funny’, ‘LOL’, and ‘Monumental’. He is one of the most popular acts on the circuit, destroying audiences with embarrassing stories that any normal person would take to the grave. ‘Very Funny’ Jimeoin ‘One of the most consistently funny comedians I have ever worked with’ Adam Hills ‘Micky is one to watch…see him now before the tickets are too expensive’ Jake O’Kane

Jonathan Harker and DRACULA

Hit one-man show comes to ISLAND’s intimate Studio Theatre hot on the heels of its international success.

Directed by Michael Poyner Original music score by Mark Dougherty

Experience the sarcasm, humour and wit of this science versus theology drama which centres on great astronomer Galileo's trial for heresy after he showed that the earth revolves around the sun.

This new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s iconic masterpiece on vampirism, sees Gerard McCarthy playing both Jonathan Harker, whose diaries chronicle the bloody tale; and the greatest supernatural character of all time, Dracula.

Galileo's tragedy is that he never understood that his differences with the church were not about reason, logic, and scientific fact. He understood the science better than any man alive, but never grasped the politics. Until it was too late.

Using multiple cameras, backing screens, projections, surround sound and a newly commissioned score, this solo tour de force will make audiences scream.

‘Passionate, intelligent, hilarious, chilling…in Tim Hardy's phenomenal performance, the knife-fight between science and religion does not take place between men, but INSIDE one.’ Dr Gary Taylor, Florida State University

The Ulster Society of Women Artists (USWA) was founded by artist Gladys Maccabe in 1957. At that time, no art society in Northern Ireland accepted women as members. The first major exhibition was held at the Belfast Museum and Art Gallery. From the original ten founding members, membership today is one hundred and twenty five women, from all fields of the visual arts. Achieving membership is, and always has been considered a mark of distinction and the number of artists trying to achieve membership is increasing every year.

Kerry (Plummer) Miles studied at the University of Ulster, gaining a Masters in Fine Art in 2003. Specialising in video, her studies concentrated on the nature/nurture debate; specifically what makes us who we are.

‘Influenced by the changing face of Ireland, with the new and varied mix of peoples that now make up our communities, I have created images that reflect a new Ireland – citizens, communities and cultures. The people featured are all part of the community I mix within, and as such represent a personal archive. This exhibition of new work takes the form of an installation. The installation will consist of photographic portraits, transferred to a silk screen and then screen printed onto recycled boxes, many of the portraits are life size.’

The common link between the three artists is an interest in the use of natural, recycled and found materials, for the purposes of this exhibition they are bound by a size restriction that dictates that works should be ‘not much bigger than a football’.

Since becoming an art teacher six years ago, combining full time work and family life has impacted on Kerry’s time to create. In the last eighteen months Kerry has been painting; working mainly in oils on canvas and to a large scale.
