MOVE CONGRESS 2025
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY ACTION PLAN
Part A – Pre-MOVE Congress 2025 Actions
With the actions listed below, our aim before the MOVE Congress 2025 is to both highlight the Congress’s commitment to environmental sustainability and prepare the approximately 800 participants to make the event greener, while also enabling them to discover Copenhagen’s sustainable aspects such as transportation, architecture, sports and tourism.
1. Awareness & Communication (campaigns, participant instructions, youth involvement, videos)
MOVE Congress green activities co-created with the GenGreen Project Youth
The GenGreen Project is an ISCA-led project, which aims to empower local associations to adapt and implement educational activities to tackle climate change and carry out youth-led initiatives in their local settings.
Before the Congress, we brought together a youth team from our Gen Green Project 13 participants each from Denmark, Hungary, Greece, and Austria to co-lead a communication campaign with ISCA and serve as our Green Ambassadors. Their mission is to spark conversations about environmental sustainability and gamify green actions throughout the venue.
You’ll recognise the Green Ambassadors by their green shirts as they engage participants, share ideas, and encourage eco-friendly behaviour in fun and interactive ways.
Meanwhile, another youth group has taken on key roles as session facilitators in the Climate track, helping to guide discussions and inspire action. Our approach has been to let youth take the lead while providing mentorship and support to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Throughout the event, you’ll see our youth representatives in action conducting interviews, capturing moments, and creating social media reels to inspire everyone to join the green movement.

Here are the key actions we prepared and have been putting into practice ahead of the Congress.
a) Instruct participants before the event: We will encourage participants to help make the Congress greener through simple actions.
- Bring your own water bottle Copenhagen’s tap water is clean, safe, and delicious."
- Use public transport or cycle etc.
- Calculate your carbon emissions. This exercise aims to raise awareness, particularly among those who have never considered or calculated their emissions before. Participants can use this tool: myclimate CO₂ Calculator
b) How to Get to the MOVE Congress Venue – Video Created by Youth: We coproduced a video with young people to showcase sustainable ways to reach the Congress venue (Tivoli Congress Center). It encourages participants to use public transport and introduces them to Copenhagen’s vibrant cycling culture.
c) Highlighting initiatives and green offers for the Congress participants, such as COPENPAY and other sustainability-focused projects in Copenhagen.
- COPENPAY: A programme by Wonderful Copenhagen that rewards visitors for making sustainable choices such as using public transport, cycling, or joining clean-up activities by offering free museum tickets, cultural experiences, and bike rentals.
- Konditaget Lüders as a fun and free physical activity spot in Nordhavn. Located on the rooftop of a multi-storey car park, this urban sports terrace offers fitness equipment, a running track, trampolines, and panoramic harbour views. It promotes active living in the city, is easily accessible by bike or metro, and showcases how urban spaces can be creatively transformed into healthpromoting, green environments.
- COPENHILL: A Futuristic, unparalleled ski slope and recreational hill on top of a new resource handling centre.
2. Venue & Supplier Engagement
Strengthening Green Practices at the Congress Venue and Hotels: ISCA has been in ongoing communication with the MOVE Congress official event organiser, Eventually, regarding environmental sustainability measures at the Congress venue

(Tivoli Congress Center) and the pre-booked hotels. ISCA proposed and followed up on the actions below to further enhance the event’s green profile.
a) Food & Catering
- Discussion with the venue caterer to donate or redistribute leftover food to local charities or food banks.
- Plant-based and locally sourced menu options.
- Using reusable or compostable cups, plates, and cutlery
- Displaying clear “Choose the Green Option” signs at food points to guide participants toward sustainable choices.
b) Waste Management
- Providing clearly labelled recycling stations for paper, plastics, organics, and residual waste in high-traffic areas (entrance, dining area).
- Working with the venue to measure and report waste diversion rates after the event.
c) Energy & Lighting
- Switching off lights and equipment in unused spaces between sessions.
- Requesting information on whether renewable energy sources power the venue and communicate this to participants.
d) Water

- Placing “Refill Here” and “Bring Your Own Bottle” signage at key points.
e) Venue Dressing and Communication
- Using reusable banners and signage.

f) Green Activity Zones: We are activating the lobby with different fun and green activities.
3. ISCA & Volunteer Preparation
MOVE Congress Sustainability Policy & ISCA Team Preparation: We have developed our MOVE Congress Sustainability Policy together with our Sustainability Officer. Based on this policy and the corresponding Action Plan, we have been implementing the following steps:
a) Internal Communication & Engagement
o Share the MOVE Congress Sustainability Policy document with the ISCA team.

o Organise an online team meeting to present the policy, discuss its objectives, gather feedback, and ensure all staff are fully on board.
b) Action Plan Alignment
o Communicate the Action Plan internally, inviting suggestions and ideas from the team.
o Conduct a short, practical training session so that every ISCA staff member becomes a Green Ambassador ready to guide and instruct participants and volunteers before, during, and after the Congress.
c) Volunteer Onboarding and Green Ambassadors
o ISCA Sustainability Officer and Congress team held online meetings to onboard the Green Ambassadors and align them with the Green Action Plan.
Part B – During Congress Actions
(29-30-31 October 2025)
1. Onsite Campaigns (youth-led campaign, gamification challenges, green activity zone)
MOVE Congress Communication Campaign co-created with GenGreen Youth (Ongoing during the Congress): The youth will spotlight the Congress’s 6Rs Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Replace, Recycle, and Remind during the Congress. The campaign details will be co-designed with them. Planned activities include social media posts, Instagram reels, and interviews with participants and speakers, all aimed at inspiring action and amplifying the Congress’s green message.
Gamifying the Environmental Sustainability during the event: We will gamify green actions during the Congress and reward participants through our event app (Cvent). We believe this approach will boost engagement, encourage active participation, and turn attendees into real contributors to our sustainability goals all while having fun.
- Photo Challenge: We will encourage participants to share photos of their green actions with the event hashtag (e.g., #GreenMOVECongress). Categories: “Best Bike to Congress Photo,” “Most Creative Reuse,”
- What have you learned from the Green Ambassadors: Participants will share in the app something they learned from the Green Ambassadors
