UNIT 10 – THE DATING GAME

a) Be going to vs present continuous to talk about the future 1) When we talk about an INTENTION to do something in the future, although no definite arrangement has been made, we prefer going to rather than the present continuous (2) To emphasise the fact that we are talking about a DEFINITE ARRANGEMENT we prefer the present continuous.

I have put the words emphasise and prefer in red, because I think they show the writer is trying to say that these are tendencies, not hard-and-fast rules.
