ASSIGNMENT 1
Assignment 1: LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATIVE DIMENSION OF INTERIOR DESIGN [20% Group]/ 5 weeks Objective: As future Graduate Interior Designers, students must possess a broad vocabulary and understanding of contractual, professional and legislative terms used daily whether amongst clients, contractors, peers, authority or the general public. This assignment serves as an introduction to the standard of Professional Conduct and Practice. It aims to outline the general Professional Conduct and selfdiscipline expected of Interior Designers registered with the Board of Architects (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia). Students are required to refer documents that relate closely to the legal and regulatory framework in practice such as the Architects Act 1967, Architects Rules 1996, Uniform Building By-Laws 1984, PAM/MIID Contract and other regulatory provisions related to the profession. At the end of this exercise, students will engage in knowledge transfer amongst their peers to understand, question and later apply in their individual projects.

Task: Each group is required to investigate one topic and conduct an in-depth study to gain an adequate understanding how it applies in practice. The list is given (see next page) including Key Points and References that should be a driving guide for the students to start their research (ensure no overlapping topics).
Requirements: ONE A4 (folded) size PRESENTATION SPREAD (FOUR nos. A3 size papers folded and taped together). The content of your final findings are to be presented in a FOUR minute Video, with clear audio (voice-recorded) & visuals. Marks will be given based on content, clarity of information and explanations, understanding of the term and its application, AND quality of the visual presentation.
