WORK-LIFE WELL-BEING

It’s hard to believe we are already deep into the summer season! The summer heat and humidity are definitely here in full force, creating some much-needed cooling off opportunities to beat the heat. By now, our hope is that summer season vacation or staycation events are in full swing for you and the family.

Did you know 60% of US employees feel their work life balance is slightly skewed and borderline unhealthy? A healthy work-life balance requires maintaining a harmonious relationship between your work and personal life. Do you make a conscious effort to manage your time and energy to meet both professional and personal commitments while prioritizing self-care and well-being? Below are some reminders to consider when searching for ways to improve your work-life well-being.

Lead by example and be a good role model for your co-workers by utilizing your PTO periodically to refresh. Take vacation time to unplug and connect with family and friends.

Check in with your co-workers and direct reports frequently and make time during your conversations to ask about their well-being.

Practice effective time management by efficiently organizing and prioritizing tasks. This helps ensure you are able to allocate enough time for work responsibilities as well as personal obligations.

Implement strategies to manage stress levels. Practice mindfulness, engage in regular physical activity, take scheduled breaks, and unplug from workrelated activities as time permits within your schedules.

The “Know Your Team” (KYT) lunches are a great result of a suggestion which came to us through the 3i program. This opportunity has allowed us to spend time connecting, engaging, and sharing some enjoyable conversations with our team members over lunch. The Senior Leadership team has hosted three lunches so far this year and each time has been an amazing experience sitting with our team members to learn more about their life journeys.

It is so exciting to see all the great things our Employee Peaks Fund (EPF) continues to do in our community. Since the program’s inception in 2018, the EPF has awarded over $600,000 to 95 different non-profits. WOW, a huge thank YOU to all who participate to make the program top notch!

We appreciate what you do and encourage you to prioritize well-being opportunities. Take advantage of your PTO benefits to create a healthier work-life balance. If you currently do not participate, become involved with the EPF program to make a difference and move mountains in your community. Additionally, if you have not participated or want the opportunity again, sign up for one of the KYT luncheons by reaching out to adminteam@imsinc.us. We can unplug for a couple hours and become better acquainted. As always, we appreciate what you do to make Team IMS what it is, continue providing Extreme Customer Focus® and protect our greatest asset...the IMS culture.

Read more in the "Giving Back" section on pg. 19 to see what Hank is doing around the community!

CONTROL

Let’s face it, it can be very uncomfortable when we are not in control, especially if the controllable item is something that we have a huge stake in. Probably the largest item that we all have a stake in is our own future. Our future is not necessarily something we control. College professors have written dissertations about the levels of stress caused on individuals because they are worried about the future. The future is something that is unpredictable from a specific sense but can typically be predicted from a general sense.

For example, it is impossible to predict exactly when and where a hurricane may hit next month, but if you take a few steps back and say, “a hurricane will hit the gulf coast next month,” you probably won't be too far off. Our business, supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), is no different. Many people may stress about the future security of their jobs because of the ever-changing landscape of DoD. The DoD funding for the projects that we support can be impacted by politics, changing requirements, war, ending contracts, new contracts….and the list goes on and on. But in an area where we may not have a lot of control, we should take a step back and look at the things we can do to ensure our future is positive and in our favor. For example, you can make sure you are supporting our customers with Extreme Customer Focus®, so they will notice you and will want you to keep supporting them no matter what the future holds.

"...in an area where we may not have a lot of control, we should take a step back and look at the things we can do..."

Do you remember the “Prairie Dog Principle?” Go to your Government cubicle and pop your head up over the cubicle wall. Look around and notice all the people around you and do a self-assessment against every one of them. Ask yourself the question, “if the government had to choose between keeping me and the other person I see, who would they keep?” The answer should be simple - the Government would fight to keep you because of the exemplary support that you provide. That is what we should be striving for, and we can produce that result when we “Do it. Do it right. Do it right now.®” What do we intend when we say, “Do it?” “Do it” means working all your assigned tasks and not letting them drop, and when all tasks are completed, then going out and seeking the next task. “Do it right?” That one is self-explanatory. Following the proper processes to come up with the answer, even if the answer produces a negative result, and then offering alternatives when a negative result is produced. “Do it right now?” Completing all your tasks and producing the results on or before the time required. If we all take care of these little things, then, (in the words of the immortal Webb Wilder), “the rest will take care of itself.”

BD UPDATE

HigherMountain is an unpopulated Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Joint Venture (JV) between HigherEchelon (HE), who serves as the Protégé and Managing Partner and IronMountain Solutions (IMS), who serves as the Mentor and Joint Venture Partner. HE and IMS established this JV under NAICS Code 541330 and the Small Business Administration (SBA) All-Small Mentor Protégé Program (ASMPP). The SBA ASMPP fosters partnerships between small businesses, enabling them to compete for government contracts more effectively. Launched in 2016, the program allows mentors to impart expertise to proteges, enhancing their capabilities and competitiveness in the federal marketplace. By joining forces, small businesses can access more opportunities, gain valuable insights, and improve their overall performance. This collaborative approach not only supports the growth of protege firms, but also strengthens the entire small business ecosystem, encouraging innovation and sustainability in government contracting. Due to IMS’ growth and continued success, IMS is now considered a Large Business under NAICS Code 541330 and can only compete on Full and Open opportunities. Thanks to HigherMountain, we can also place bids under Small Business opportunities!

SECURITY UPDATE

The Security department will soon be launching the new NIST 800-171 compliant Security Information Management System (SIMS) software. SIMS is a cloud-based platform that will give IMS employees with security clearances access to their clearance record via the SIMS Employee portal. The SIMS Employee portal will allow you to access your data stored in SIMS, such as clearance status, visit requests, and foreign travel requests. Before the implementation of SIMS, IMS employees submitted visit request forms and foreign travel requests via email to the FSO team. SIMS will provide you with a faster and more streamlined process to submit these requests. You can find the link to the SIMS Employee Portal along with a tutorial on the Security SharePoint, which can be accessed through JAMIS.

The Security SharePoint can be accessed through JAMIS or the IMS Teams SharePoint.

WELL-BEING COMMITTEE

The Well-Being Committee continues to provide Team IMS opportunities to connect with each other and the community! In June, several team members and their families volunteered their time at the Manna House to distribute food for individuals and families in need. The humbling experience and the connections made left Team IMS with thankful hearts and eager to volunteer again!

The Well-Being Committee is also thrilled to report that both Kids to Love and Free 2 Teach were elated and very grateful for the donations made by YOU! Your generous donations to the IMS School Supply Drive will afford both students and teachers in the community the resources they need to have a successful school year. Thank you for your kindness and dedication to delivering Extreme Community Focus!

IT UPDATE

As we dive into the hot summer months, it’s essential to keep our devices safe and maintain cybersecurity practices. In this article, we’ll cover two critical topics:

PROTECTING YOUR DEVICES FROM HEAT

The scorching summer heat can wreak havoc on your electronic devices. Whether it’s your smartphone, laptop, or any other gadget, extreme temperatures can harm their batteries and internal components. Here’s what you need to remember:

• Never leave devices in your car: The inside of a parked car can become a furnace, especially during peak summer hours. Heat accelerates battery degradation and can cause irreversible damage.

• Garage safety: Even if your garage is climatecontrolled, it can still get warm. Avoid leaving electronics there for extended periods. Instead, bring them inside where the temperature is stable.

HANDLING CONTROLLED UNCLASSIFIED INFORMATION (CUI)

As we approach our Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), handling CUI becomes paramount. Here’s a quick refresher:

• Printed CUI: If you print any Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), ensure its protection while in use. Once you’re done, securely dispose of it by placing it in the Shred-It boxes located at the Corporate office.

• Digital Media: CDs, DVDs, and other digital media containing CUI require special attention. Reach out to IT for guidance on proper destruction methods. Remember, safeguarding CUI is everyone’s responsibility.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all of our customers! Your trust and support make our work meaningful. Our dedicated team takes pride in contributing to IMS’ success. We’re here for you 24/7. Give us a call, 256-704-9000 or email us at helpdesk@imsinc.us. Stay safe, stay informed, and let’s make this summer productive and secure!

QUALITY UPDATE

October will bring our fourth CMMI appraisal since the formalization of our Quality Management System back in 2018. An essential cog in the successful completion of a CMMI appraisal is the Appraisal Team. This team is responsible, under the guidance of our Lead Appraiser, to shepherd IronMountain Solutions through this process.

During the appraisal process, the team has two main functions. The first function occurs before the actual Benchmark Appraisal begins. For each practice area, several artifacts are collected for each individual practice requirement. This culminates with the team validating these items as properly fulfilling the CMMI requirements. The second function entails the Appraisal Team conducting interviews with IMS Subject Matter Experts in order to corroborate the aforementioned artifacts as being those which are actually used to conduct our business.

Achieving the proper credentials to serve on the Appraisal Team requires extraordinary commitment. One should be mindful that most of the members are not from the Quality department; instead, are IMS employees that volunteer for many reasons, but most importantly to assist in the strategically critical CMMI accreditation. The following are the main requirements one must complete to serve on the Appraisal Team:

• Successfully complete the Foundations of Capability course, which is a two-day course that serves as an introduction to CMMI, the basic key concepts, and the 17 core Practice Areas.

• Successfully complete the Building Excellence course for the Service Model. This is a one-day course in which CMMI is applied in a service management and delivery environment using real world, scenario-driven exercises.

• After the course, a four-hour Certified CMMI Associate exam must be taken with a passing grade of 90%. A passing grade allows the team member to be a Certified CMMI Associate. One must be a Certified CMMI Associate to serve on the Appraisal Team.

• Several days of 100% commitment to the CMMI appraisal process are required. Along with the Appraisal Team, IMS President, Thomas Petty remains our Appraisal Sponsor and Michael Goff is the Site Coordinator. Danielle Mazur and Chad Norwood have served on all three Appraisal Teams, and this is the second one for Cooper. All three had to successfully complete the aforementioned exam, for a second time, to maintain their Certified CMMI Associate status and remain on the Appraisal Team. Join me in thanking and congratulating these fellow employees. We look forward to another successful Benchmark Appraisal scheduled for October 7-10.

CORPORATE UPDATE

The Corporate division has been busy this summer with several new improvement opportunities! The HR team is excited to have new, plastic Benefits Contact Cards for each employee to have easy access to their 2024-2025 plan year information. All employees that elect IMS health benefits should have received a card to their mailing address or received one in-person at HQ. This should be a helpful resource to Team IMS, especially with the addition of two new benefit plan providers, Guardian & RelyMD.

In addition to the IMS Meeting Host Resources mentioned last newsletter, it is now easier than ever to host a meeting at IMS HQ with the new Meeting Request Form information about your meeting regarding IT support, possible food needed, and other details for the Admin team to plan for. After completing the form, you will receive a confirmation from the Admin team.

In July, the Accounting and Project Control departments hosted a virtual Travel Training. The training covered travel policy updates, Concur best practices, and more! View the recording from this training on the IMS Team SharePoint.

DIVISION UPDATES

TSD UPDATE

The summer is heating up with great accomplishments from TSD! With six major internal promotions to re-align and optimize TSD leadership, we are excited to have Ashley Smith as TSD Director, Damian Cason as TSD UHPO Task Order Project Lead (TOPL), Scott Riley as TSD Subcontracts TOPL and Mark DePriest, Lisa Shively and Larry Davis as Team Leads.

During the TopVue to Windchill transition at UHPO, Carolean Daney and other UHPO employees discovered lacking aspects of Windchill such as clumsy or omitted field names and values that hindered an operating environment for the SRD Tasking system. Due to identifying and remedying these deficiencies, Carolean was praised by the UHPO Systems Engineering Branch Team lead and the PEO Aviation Engineering/Architecture & Systems/Digital Engineering Program Integrator for her efforts to create a viable and useful product for the PEO Aviation team. Great job, Carolean!

BILL SEIVERS & KEVIN SWAIN DOS/COLOMBIA C-17 LOADOUT

External Programs TSD members, Bill Seivers and Kevin Swain, worked with the PIF and SES, to successfully upload 3 ea. DOS/Colombia UH-60A EPMI aircraft on a US Air Force C-17 on 6 Jun. In July, two additional aircraft remaining in the UH-60A EPMI line for DOS INL/A were delivered!

TTOS UPDATE

Phil Webber racked up the frequent flyer miles supporting his US Customs and Border Protection customer during their ACN/ASET-F upgrades in Tucson, AZ, Aguadilla, PR, McAllen, TX, El Paso, TX, and Detroit, MI in the span of May/June!

Summer has arrived with a vengeance! Is everyone thankful for the inventor of the air conditioner? I know I am! We have a few updates and stories from the TTOS team highlighted in the update below.

TOQUERO & TOM IRVIN

The International Apache (IA) Program Integrators (PI) for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Apache AH-64E Version 6 aircraft production (remanufacture and new build), James (TQ) Toquero and Tom Irvin delivered two more AH-64E V6 aircraft via C-17 Globemaster transport from Phoenix, AZ in late June. The team looks forward to completing remanufactured AH-64D aircraft induction, delivering UAE’s last two AH-64E V6 aircraft of the first tranche in August 2024, and the start of second tranche deliveries.

The IA PI for UAE AH-64D/E Sustainment, Josh Miller continues to manage contracts supporting in-country activities for pre-induction AH64D aircraft and has seamlessly incorporated the newly fielded AH-64E V6 aircraft.

In late June, John Wilson attended and recorded a training session at the Keysight Facility in Santa Rosa, California. The agenda for the session included troubleshooting and replacement of assembly boards in the Microwave Measuring Receiver. It was also a great opportunity to meet the technicians who rely on the video training to assist in both operational functionality of the equipment fielded as well as troubleshooting.

ESD UPDATE

This summer has been packed with remarkable accomplishments and fun times along the way. Our team continues to grow as we added teammates on our newest contract which provides support and protection to our Nation’s Capital Region! The new NCR-IADS team conducted site visits across the National Capital Region (Washington, D.C.) in May. Sites included the Joint Air Defense Operations Center (JADOC) at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling as well as Sentinel, Avenger, and NASAMS sites throughout the region. Known as the NCR-IADS Management and Integration Cell (MIC), the IMS-led team is supporting SMDC ACM SMD CoE by managing all Army programs providing 24/7/365 integrated air defenses of our Nation's capital. Never forget.

We are fortunate to have a talented group of people on this team, including Mr. Jeff Herman who joined the team following a distinguished career and was recently recognized for his tremendous service. Check out his highlight to learn more about his journey before joining Team IMS!

Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team (FVL CFT) had the opportunity to both recognize and honor one of its own. Jeff Herman, Senior Science and Technology Coordinator for the CFT, retired after 32 years of distinguished service.

In recognition of those years of faithful service, Mr. Dan Bailey, Deputy Director of the FVL CFT presented Herman with a Superior Civilian Service Medal and a Certificate of Retirement.

Other members of our team continue to support some of the Army’s most important exercises. Project Convergence/Capstone 4 is an extremely important exercise that Army Futures Command coordinates to test some of the future capabilities and concepts for the Army. Our teammates support many critical areas and are providing expertise to ensure these capabilities are developed and employed in the best way.

We are also thankful for opportunities to get together and have some fun! A special thanks to Kim Moody for helping us organize a night at Toyota Field supporting the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Unfortunately, some of our ESD teammates had to go TDY, however, being creative folks, they joined in the fun by attending a Chihuahua’s game out in El Paso!

Additionally, Bailey presented Herman with The Order of Saint Michael (Silver) Award for his decades of contributions to the Aviation Branch. Herman worked on the development of the V-22 Valor for the United States Marine Corps and the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) for the US Army. “Jeff Herman has been a quiet key link to the success of all major DoD aviation systems in use today and coming in the future, his retirement will be felt throughout the community,” said Dan Bailey. DEREK NEWCOMB

SYSTEMS ENGINEER & IPS BD DIRECTOR

Derek Newcomb joined IronMountain Solutions right out of college nearly nine years ago. “I grew up with family in DoD Acquisition and always thought working with helicopters was as cool as it could get. I was lucky to discover IMS right after graduation and based on the company’s reputation, joining was an easy decision.”

Since joining Team IMS, Derek has had a varied career. He started out as a Mechanical Design Engineer for the MFEDS program, then decided he needed more acquisitions experience, so he moved to UHPO and became a Project Lead for 60M. He also supported IMS as a Business Development Specialist and a Team Lead in TSD. About four years after that he transferred to PMO FARA as a Systems Engineer, where he has been for the last two years while also serving as a Business Development Director for the IPS division.

“IMS had about 90 employees when I started back in 2015. We’re currently around 330 employees. I want to continue to help IMS grow our team here in Huntsville and help IMS reach new customers in other markets to provide the best service we can.”

Like many in the Huntsville area, Derek is a proud transplant. “I’m originally from St. Louis, MO (go Cardinals!). My family moved to Decatur, AL in 1997 and I’ve lived in Alabama ever since.” Derek knew from a young age that he wanted to be an engineer and always found math and science fun. While in college, he had a co-op job where he had the opportunity to learn how chemical plants operate. “I also had a part-time job during school soliciting donations from alumni which gave me a great appreciation for anyone placing cold calls!" Derek and his wife, Lakyn, met at a mutual friend’s lake house on Lake Martin for a 4th of

July celebration right after he graduated. “We started dating about a year later; I eventually convinced her to move to Huntsville and the rest was history.” Derek and Lakyn have two dogs, Greta and Nessie.

Thank you Sherry Brewer and Sandra Gates for interviewing Team IMS to get to know our co-workers better! This edition features Derek Newcomb and Matthew Shattuck from the IPS Division.

MATTHEW SHATTUCK

SR. LOGISTICS ANALYST & IPS TEAM LEAD

Matthew Shattuck supports the Improved Turbine Engine (ITE) Office within PEO Aviation and is also the Advanced Turbine Engine (ATE) Team Lead.

Before retiring from the U.S. Army, he was trying to decide where he wanted to continue his career. “I watched IMS on social media. I love everything IMS does in support of the Warfighter and in the community. I knew IMS was a company I wanted to work for in my second career.”

He made the decision to join IronMountain Solutions and has been with the team for almost three years. He plans to continue to make a difference in Army Aviation and grow within IMS.

Matthew grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. “Growing up, I always wanted to serve in the military. I did not know I would make a career out of it. I was in the Army for 21 years as a Blackhawk Crew Chief and Standardization Instructor. I spent most of my time at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. I have also been stationed in Ft. Rucker, Camp Zama Japan, Soto Cano Air Base Honduras, Wiesbaden German, and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have served at some amazing duty stations. I really enjoyed watching young individuals find their purpose and grow into great leaders. I represented the Aviation branch during Holistic Aviation Assessment Task Force (HAATF), and assessed leadership, readiness, resources, training and maintenance, and sustainment initiatives. I provided recommendations to the Army Chief of Staff for modernization the branch and served as a Causality Assistance Officer after a Blackhawk crash in 2020 and was able to assist the family in their time of need – this was the most honorable duty throughout my career.”

Matthew currently serves as the Vice President of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Army Aviation Association of America (TVC AAAA). Q3 EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER

Congratulations to Steve Yenias for being selected as IMS’ Employee of the Quarter for Q3! Steve is a Team Lead in TTOS reporting to Keri Merrick and a Cybersecurity Engineer supporting Apache. EMPLOYEE PEAKS FUND

The Employee Peaks Fund (EPF) is excited to announce the awarding of over $62,000 in grants to 16 local organizations. On June 14th, IMS hosted the Summer 2024 Grant Recipients to receive their grant awards and share the projects that the grant will support. This grant cycle allowed the EPF to celebrate two big milestones including:

1 . Awarding a grant to the first non-profit organization outside of the Tennessee Valley.

2. Awarding 6 new non-profits first-time grants, allowing the EPF to support 95 different non-profits since inception.

The EPF would not be successful without the employee contributors! Since 2018, over $600,000 has gone back to our communities allowing non-profits to move mountains for those in need. You can watch a recording of the Summer 2024 Grant Reception here

The Employee Peaks Fund Board of Directors is also excited to welcome two new board members, Sandra Baker (Corp.) and Joshua Ozment (TTOS) and a new EPF Leadership team to serve for the 2024-2025 grant cycles! Please welcome Cooper Taylor (Chair), Molly Boyd (Vice Chair), Ashley VanHooser (Treasurer), and Bailey Lee (Secretary)! If you have any questions, please contact epf-bod@imsinc.us

WellStone, formerly known as the Mental Health Center of Madison County, is a behavioral health program that treats children, adolescents and adults who face mental illness, substance abuse and a broad range of obstacles related to health and wellbeing. Located in both Huntsville and Cullman, AL, this non-profit treats over 13,000 clients per year.

Hank Isenberg recently helped fund Wellstone's "Be the Rock" capital campaign. “Supporting this project means contributing to a vital safety net for children’s mental health, ensuring they receive the immediate care they require...It is a crucial investment in our community’s future that I am honored to take part in. The challenges of mental health continue to grow, resulting in the need for these services to evolve... There is a direct impact that these challenges have on the community’s education systems, workforce development, and safety,” said Isenberg. If you would like additional information about Wellstone and how to support them or to inquire about their services, please
