LGUs UPDATE AGRI PLANS, EYE MORE INVESTMENTS
L
ocal governments from Regions 11, 12 and Caraga conducted activities as part of updating their commodity investment plans (CIPs), seeking to generate more investments to further boost their top commodities. These LGUs include: Davao City, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat. Davao City held a consultation of stakeholders on Oct. 18-19, 2023 for the 2024-2026 version of its CIP. The updated CIP includes cacao, coffee, coconut, durian, and lowland vegetables. Likewise, Surigao del Sur Province revisited the investments for its top commodities in a workshop held on Oct 23-25, 2023. In Region 12, the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani respectively held a series of activities on Oct 3-6, 2023. Activities included: stakeholders’ consultation and technical review of updated CIPs. For Sarangani Province, it also consulted its key stakeholders of dairy cattle as part of exploring options for implementing convergence activities.

I-PLAN TO DRAW MORE INFO ON SUCCESS, LESSONS

s part of I-Plan’s knowledge management strategy, a workshop was held to draw more inputs from I-Plan teams in the six regions of Mindanao. This was done during the implementation assessment held on Oct 10-13, 2023 in Cagayan de Oro City. During the workshop, I-Plan teams identi ed communication products that can be developed to further promote the science-based tools utilized by PRDP. Also identi ed were practices and innovations that can be documented and packaged as knowledge products. Currently, I-Plan Mindanao is producing weekly highlights and monthly newsletters.

DA-10’s I-PLAN BACKS 1ST COFFEE ROASTING CONTEST

A-PRDP’s I-Plan Component of Region 10 was among the of ces that supported the rst ever Philippine Coffee Roasting Competition. In collaboration with the Philippine Coffee Institute, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism, Natividad Food Corporation, and A Brown Company Inc., the competition drew roasters from all over the country. Declared winners were: 1st - Mary Jane Cua, Coffee Central Ph, 2nd - Arnel Francisco Cadeliňa , Coffee Roaster from Gensan, 3rd - Alexander Ray Sumania from Cagayan de Oro . The competition was aimed at promoting coffee quality, skills development and innovation.
