As part of the 16th ISM, representatives from the Department of Agriculture's Philippine Rural Development Project, the World Bank (WB), and the European Union (EU) visited the Migcawayan Tribal Agricultural Cooperative's (MTAC) Crumb Rubber Processing and Marketing Enterprise subproject. The enterprise stands as one of first recipients of European Union Co-Financing, a grant dedicated to enhancing the livelihoods of indigenous communities. World Bank task team leader Mio Takada and European Union programme manager Mojca Krisper-Figueroa, engaged with MTAC beneficiaries and surveyed the designated site for the upcoming crumb rubber processing facility. Mojca Krisper-Figueroa congratulated the Mindanao team for the accomplishments and expressed the continued support of the European Union for Mindanao. “The EU has poured support in Mindanao not just through DA-PRDP because we want to empower the indigenous communities, and bridge cultures for a brighter, inclusive tomorrow,”the EU programme manager said.

Stakeholders map out strategies for corn industry

he RPCO-9 I-PLAN Component in collaboration with DA RFO-IX PMED and the Corn Program, organized a comprehensive two-day stakeholders' consultation on November 28 to 29, 2023, in Pagadian City. The consultation gathered inputs for the crafting of the Zamboanga Peninsula Corn Industry Roadmap for 2023-2040.

The activity drew the participation of provincial corn coordinators from Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay. Also present were, city corn coordinators from Isabela City and Zamboanga City, as well as municipal corn coordinators from Siayan, Sergio Osmeña, and Liloy in Zamboanga del Norte; Mabuhay in Zamboanga Sibugay; and Pagadian City, Aurora, Mahayag, Ramon Magsaysay, Dinas, Midsalip, and San Miguel in Zamboanga del Sur. The activity also had representatives from FCAs in Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga City, along with a representative from the Department of Trade and Industry.

The consultation among the CPTs Davao del Sur presents the priority was conducted for a wider scope commodities of the province and impact of the I-PLAN SC 1.2 activities. The CPTs rated their priority commodities per province and city wherein top ve (5) priority commodities were identi ed to serve as guide for the conduct of SC 1.2 Activities in the region for the following year. Through this activity, representatives of the CPTs and the RPCO XI also presented their indicative calendar of activities for 2024.
