t is well known that metals oxidize, corrode and go back to their natural condition: oxide. This corrosion process brings about a huge economic and environmental impact, and safety issues difficult to control. The economic cost of corrosion in developed countries is about 3-4% of the GDP. To reduce these huge costs the implementation of programs for corrosion prevention is fundamental. UNI-EN-ISO 12944 standard contains the technical knowledge for corrosion protection of steel structures and sets the tests to be carried out and their duration according to the different corrosivity classification. In case of corrosion protection by painting systems, the selection bases on different atmospheric environments. Once the environment has been classified, it is necessary to define the durability, which does not mean “period of warranty” but indicates the “technical lifetime” of a structure that has in any case to undergo a proper maintenance. Adapta has developed a protection system against corrosion for steel and galvanised structures in accordance with the ISO 12944-2 Standard for type C5-1 and C5-M corrosive environments. It is a twin-coat powder system, a first coat with epoxy primer and a final top coat with Qualicoat Class 1 or Superdurable Class 2 polyester. The treatment of the substrate is based on conversion technology without phosphates. Likewise, this classification has been tested for type of high durability (more than 15 years), in accordance with ISO 12944- which establishes the trials to be carried out and their duration in line with the corrosivity category. risaputo che i metalli si ossidano, si corrodono e tornano al loro stato naturale, l’ossido. Questo processo di corrosione causa grandi problemi economici, ambientali e di sicurezza, in quantità difficili da controllare. Il costo economico della corrosione nei paesi industrializzati è stimato attorno al 3-4% del PIL. Per ridurre questa enorme voce di costo è essenziale l’implementazione di programmi di protezione anticorrosiva. La norma UNI-EN-ISO 12944 racchiude la conoscenza tecnica in merito alle esigenze di protezione delle strutture in acciaio e stabilisce i test da effettuare e la loro durata in funzione della categoria di corrosività. Nei sistemi di protezione che prevedono la verniciatura, la selezione viene effettuata in base ai diversi ambienti atmosferici. Una volta classificato l’ambiente si deve decidere la durabilità, che non è sinonimo di “periodo di garanzia” bensì indica la “vita utile tecnica” di una struttura che va comunque sottoposta a un programma adeguato di manutenzione. Adapta ha sviluppato un sistema di protezione contro la corrosione per le strutture di acciaio e zincate secondo la norma ISO 12944-2, per ambiente corrosivo tipo C5-I e C5-M. Si tratta di un sistema a polveri a doppia mano, primer epossidico + polvere poliestere Qualicoat classe 1 o Superdurable classe 2. Il pretrattamento del substrato è basato sulla tecnologia di conversione senza fosfati. Inoltre, questa classificazione è idonea ad una alta durabilità (più di 15 anni), secondo la ISO 12944.
