empel announced that HEMPADUR ULTRA-STRENGTH 47500 won the prestigious “Innovative Technology Award” at the IBJ Awards 2010 ceremony held at the Savoy Hotel in London on 15 November. The IBJ Awards are given out by the trade publication International Bulk Journal to recognise excellence in the world’s maritime bulk industry. Hempel was the only coating supplier nominated in any of the 15 categories. And it was the first time a coating supplier has been given this innovation award. The nominees in the category “Innovative Technology Award” were Hempel – Denmark, OMC International – Australia, and PSM Instrumentation – United Kingdom. The award is presented to an organisation which demonstrates how recently introduced equipment, software or application benefits the company or the bulk business as a whole. The development of the concept or equipment and its successful implementation into a commercial product must be demonstrated. The award was sponsored and presented by FEDNAV Group of Canada, who won the “Bulk Ship of the Year” Award in 2009. Hempel’s ULTRA-STRENGTH 47500, an innovative cargo hold coating that extends repair intervals, demonstrated its superior coating technology for a bulk coating that lasts 10 years instead of the normal two to three years of competitive coatings. Hempel ULTRA-STRENGTH 47500 is also made to withstand the tough conditions in the cargo hold. The coating represents a significant advantage for the maritime bulk industry – preventing costly maintenance downtime. Michael Aamodt, Product Manager, Group Marine Marketing – Denmark, said about the award, “This is truly an honour. Our team at Hempel has worked very hard on Hempel ULTRASTRENGTH 47500 and we are so pleased to be recognised for our efforts.” The IBJ Awards, held first in 2009, has quickly become the leading awards event for the world’s maritime bulk industry. Nearly 400 industry executive s from more than 25 countries were present, including the UK Under Secretary of State for Transport Mike Penning, MP. Hempel was represented at the IBJ Awards by Nick Frowen, Country Manager - UK, Tim Dee-Crowne, Area Sales Manager – UK and Michael Aamodt, Product Manager, Group Marine Marketing – Denmark (see Figure).

Il riconoscimento viene sponsorizzato e assegnato dal FEDNAV Group of Canada, che ha vinto il riconoscimento “Bulk Ship of the Year Award” nel 2009. L‘HEMPADUR ULTRA-STRENGTH 47500 della Hempel è un nuovo prodotto per le stive in grado di estendere la manutenzione fino a 10 anni rispetto ai 5 anni normalmente garantiti dai prodotti della concorrenza. Il rivestimento rappresenta un significativo passo in avanti per l’industria navale mercantile, riducendo i costi di manutenzione. La prima assegnazione IBJ Awards, avvenuta nel 2009, è velocemente diventata il riconoscimento maggiore nel campo dell’industria mercantile mondiale. Erano presenti quasi 400 esponenti industriali appartenti a più di 25 nazioni, tra i quali Mike Penning – Ministro dei Trasporti inglese. All‘ IBJ Awards era presente anche la Hempel nelle persone di Nick Frowen, Country Manager - UK, Tim Dee-Crowne, Area Sales Manager – UK e Michael Aamodt, Product Manager, Group Marine Marketing – Denmark (rif.
