Q-LAB SEMINAR ON ACCELERATED AGING AND OUTDOOR CORRELATION Seminario Q-Lab sull’invecchiamento accelerato agli agenti atmosferici

o scorso mercoledì 19 giugno, presso la sede della Camera di Commercio di Milano a Palazzo Turati, Q-Lab - leader globale nelle apparecchiature per prove di invecchiamento accelerato ed esposizione in esterno - ha organizzato un seminario sulla misurazione della durabilità dei materiali in laboratorio e all’esterno. Le prove di invecchiamento accelerato permettono di capire quale sarà la vita utile dei manufatti e di ridurre l’utilizzo di prodotti anti UV, evitano costosi problemi in caso di failure dei rivestimenti e generano ritorni sull’investimento. Il seminario introduttivo della durata di un giorno ha trattato i principi fondamentali del weathering e della stabilità alla luce, focalizzandosi sui seguenti argomenti: • I meccanismi attraverso i quali la luce, il calore e l’acqua danneggiano i materiali; • Le ragioni per eseguire le prove di invecchiamento e il ritorno di investimento che esse generano; • Un confronto fra le prove di invecchiamento a mezzo di Arco Xenon e quelle a Luce Fluorescenza UV; • Una comparazione tra test in esterno e in laboratorio. La giornata è stata organizzata da IMCD Italia, disstributore ufficiale delle apparecchiature e dei prodotti Q-Lab in Italia, in collaborazione con Innovhub d – Stazioni Sperimentali per l’Industria, l’azienda sspeciale della camera di commercio di Milano specializzata nella soluzione alle esigenze delle impreci i se dei settori tessile, cartario, dei combustibili, degli oli e dei grassi, che si propone di migliorare la como petitività del tessuto economico nazionale attraverp sso la promozione e il sostegno dell’innovazione e d dello sviluppo scientifico e tecnologico. I relatori della giornata sono stati Mark Evans, Q-Lab UK, Maurizio Corbella, Market Manager Instruments di IMCD Italia Spa (entrambi in fig.3), e Gianmaria Gasperini, Head of Paint and Varnishes Dept.t di di IInnovhub (fig. 1). V i h D La giornata ha visto la presenza di circa 80 persone (fig. 2) provenienti da diversi settori industriali, dall’auto e moto alla produzione di vernici e materie prime, dal tessile all’industria dei profilati di alluminio, a riprova del fatto che le prove di invecchiamento sono un tema molto sentito nell’industria dei trattamenti di superficie. n June 19, at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan (Italy) at Palazzo Turati, Q-Lab - a global leader in equipment for accelerated weathering tests and outdoor exposure - organized a seminar about measuring the durability of the materials outdoor and in the laboratory. The accelerated weathering tests allow understandings which help predict the useful life of the all most any industrial products and to reduce the use of anti UV products, avoid costly problems in case of failure of the coating and generate return on investment. The one-day introductory seminar dealt with the fundamental principles of weathering and light stability, focusing on the following topics: • The mechanism by which light, heat and water damage materials. • The reasons for carrying out weathering tests and the return on investment they generate. • A comparison of the weathering tests by means of Xenon Arc and with UV Fluorescence Light. • A comparison between outdoor exposure and laboratory tests. The day was organized by IMCD Italy, the official distributor of equipment and products of Q-Lab in Italy, in collaboration with Innovhub - Experimental Stations for Industry, the special company of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan specialized in solving the needs of companies of textile, paper, fuels, oils and greases sectors and to improve the competitiveness of the national economy level through the promotion and support of innovation and the scientific and technological development. The speakers of the day were Mark Evans, Q-Lab UK, Maurizio Corbella, Market Manager Instruments of IMCD Italy Spa (both in Fig. 3) and Gianmaria Gasperini (Fig. 1), director of Innovhub. The day was attended by about 80 people (Fig. 2) from different industries, from automotive and motorcycle sector to the production of paints and raw materials, from the textile industry to the aluminum profiles industry, reflecting the fact that the weathering tests are a very salient issue in the industry of surface treatments.
