The FLEC Flyer | April 09, 2010 | Week 34 POWERED BY I/OTRAK

The FLEC Flyer | April 09, 2010 | Week 34 Message from the Principal . . . Dear Parents, I trust that your week was productive and fruitful. On my way to my office yesterday, I encountered a little girl who was sad. I said, “Good morning, Precious,” and her eyes welled with tears. I inquired, “Precious, why are you so sad?” and she responded, “My mommy can’t go to my violin lesson with me today.” I said, “Don’t worry, I’ll go with you!” Then I walked into my office to face Carolyn who had already planned my day for me, and in an instant I blew it! I went to the 30 minute lesson and had a lovely time with all the students. At the conclusion of the lesson, I walked Precious to her class and wished her a good day. She was ready for a new day to begin. Today, I received a thank you note from her for accompanying her to her lesson. While it was a wonderful gesture, I should be thanking her for reminding me that FLEC is not about meetings and how full my days are; it is about our children. I thank the Lord daily for the children that He has sent to us. Is there someone in your life that has been special to you? Whether by deed or thoughts, have they provided blessings in your life? I invite you to take a moment to thank them today. Blessings, Janet Ledesma “I thank God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.” - 2 Timothy 1:3

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE “My Dad is a Professional Beggar” was the response I overheard my youngest son giving once when asked “What does your father do?” My first thought was “Wait, I don’t like that picture. My work is more noble than that!” But, I had to admit, that is the picture many people have of Fundraisers. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good “comeback” for my son’s assessment of my work. About a year later, during a grant writing workshop, I had my answer. The presenter challenged us: “You must change your thinking about your work. You’re not going around with one hand out, begging for money, and the other hand ready to grab and twist the “victim’s” arm. You are a bridge. You connect needs with dreams. Someone has a dream to solve a challenge or need facing society. Fundraisers connect people who have a dream to help, with those needs. This turns needs into opportunities and dreamers into donors, and in the process, great good is accomplished for society. Never forget, you’re a bridge.” What a difference! Who wouldn’t want to be a Bridge rather than a Beggar? And who wouldn’t get excited about giving people with hearts and passions to change society for the better opportunities to accomplish those dreams? Join me., We need more Bridges and more Dreamers so that we can build this new school for our children. Remember: “Your Faith Guides their Future”!
