far and wide but may never witness a building as remarkable as the Punjab Kesari Headquarters, one of many masterpieces designed by Studio Symbiosis. Based in the northern Indian city of Delhi, Studio Symbiosis is an architectural practice that prides itself on being at the cutting edge of design. The design philosophy is to create integrated design solutions imbibing amalgamated, efficient, robust and sustainable designs leading to performative architecture. The company’s ever-growing portfolio is something to behold, none more so than the Punjab Kesari Headquarters. Situated in one of Delhi’s leading commercial districts, the Punjab Kesari Headquarters – which is presently under construction – will cover 13,000m² and rise to 23 metres. The building
is a fusion of traditional Indian architecture and contemporary office space sitting in harmony with its surroundings. It is made up of six floors, including a basement set aside for parking, and will be used as headquarters for the client. However, it will also house many office modules, each occupying 500m², which can be rented out by Punjab Kesari. One of the key objectives was to design office space that maximises the use of daylight, and which requires no artificial light during a typical working day, yet still provide a glare-free environment for employees. This is achieved by the porosity of its remarkable intricate façade, with its hexagonal pattern of varying shapes, all of which have been designed to respond to the amount of solar radiation entering the building.
