Véronique joined ISB in 2022 as our Security and Mobility Manager, and Prevention Officer You’ll find Véronique either in her office in the Chateau, or walking around campus making sure we are all safe and well We asked Véronique

Any fun facts about you?

“Many people wonder, or hesitate to ask, why I shaved my hair. The truth is, I shaved my hair to the scalp over 20 years ago, just one month before my wedding, simply because I had always wanted to. Most people saw my new hairstyle for the first time on the wedding day. Surprisingly, the person who was most upset wasn't my mother, but the photographer!”

What are your top tips to maintain wellbeing?

“To maintain wellbeing, it's important to consider how your actions may affect your colleagues' health, safety, and resilience. Everyone has different tolerance levels for stress and challenging situations, so never assume that others will react the same way you do. We all share the responsibility for looking out for each other's health, safety, and resilience in the workplace, supporting one another to build a stronger, more supportive environment.”

How can employees access information on Health and Safety and ISB?

“We have been working making all Health & Safety information, as well as Security and Wellbeing questions available in a single place You can scan the QR code on the posters, go to the employee's portal or check my email signature for the H&S Logo and link I will continue to grow with as information will be added ”

With the longer days and later sunsets, summertime often sees us outside and “in the elements” for more of the day than other seasons might. Whilst there are many health benefits to being outside, including improvements in blood pressure, type II diabetes, and mental health, it is also important to take precautions in order to protect ourselves from the beating sun and extra movement

We thought we’d ask our wonderful team of school nurses how they stay healthy - and maintain their wellbeing - over the summer season!

Anna Ball

As one of our team of the three school nurses that we are lucky to have, Anna has been caring for our students and staff since 2021.

What are your passions you have outside of work?

“This year I am making a real effort at gardening, with lots of plants and flowers that are good for the birds and insects of Brussels. And I'm trying to involve my 1yr old daughter as much as possible (sometimes with more success than others!) ”

What are your top tips to stay healthy over the summer?

“Drink lots of water Wear sunscreen And get out with friends and family for walks, cycles and good food!”

Marie-France Friedrick

Skyrocketing into stardom with her second feature in this year’s guides, this time in her main role as our head nurse, Marie-France is a friendly face and valued colleague who also joined ISB in 2021

What are your passions outside of work?

“I love long walks with my dog or share a nice dinner amongst friends, but I am passionate about music!”

What are your top tips to stay healthy over the summer?

“Do whatever makes you happy and allows you to disconnect. Move your body (it's Festival time!!), eat healthy- lots of fruits and salads and spend some time with your loved ones! Oh, and make sure you wear 50+ SPF sunscreen!”

Melissa Verheven

The newest member of the team, we welcomed Melissa to ISB this January.

What are your passions outside of work?

”Walking my dog and being with my family, gardening.”

What are your top tips to stay healthy over the summer?

“Salads, fruits, water and sports!”
