La-Z-Boy has expanded its British-made designs La-Z-Boy UK has expanded its Britishmade product range with eight collections unveiled at the Manchester Furniture Show. The decision will give greater control over lead times, reducing the wait faced by retailers and customers for in-demand models. ‘This is particularly important right now due to the unprecedented situation with international freight, impacted by issues surrounding Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic and a shortage of HGV drivers and warehousing space. It is also an environmentally-conscious move as manufacturing furniture ranges in the UK instead of importing from overseas will reduce the carbon footprint of each sofa and chair,’ says Trevor Hailes, La-Z-Boy international product merchandising director. Historically, around 70% of the La-Z-Boy UK product range has been manufactured overseas. Broadening La-Z-Boy’s offering with more made-toorder furniture manufactured in the UK will appeal to customers who like to support British manufacturing and may not have considered the brand before. Hailes says the company is responding to a practical need to guarantee supply for buyers as well as a growing appetite among consumers for buying British. ‘As a brand, we have recognised this trend and acted and adapted. Consumers are becoming much more conscientious about where their purchases are coming from, so we hope these British-made collections will appeal to a new customer
base as well as those who already have knowledge of the brand.’ Each sofa will come with matching scatter cushions so they will be dressed ready for the consumer. Bartelli has contrasting colour combinations including blue and yellow. As well as sofas and corner units, customers can opt for a feature swivel chair and footstool in the complementary colour to create a talking point in the home. Baxter embraces the beauty of rounded edges with a curved threeseater sofa. Family and friends can all sit together on one sofa and still see each other for a face-to-face conversation.
The versatile Payton range is also designed for family life, offering flexibility with reversible scatter back cushions and high armrests. Castello offers the best of both worlds with fabric upholstery that looks just like leather. Collins has a vintage appearance with deep seats and a low back. Camberwell, Eden and Hampstead are riser recliners.
